Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Can somebody clarify?

The layoffs started and ended yesterday, we all know that, but are we talking about this round or in general? Mainly, will there be more rounds this month or was that it? I'm asking because I've seen several people in different threads mention more October layoffs and I honestly thought yesterday was it.

The answer is no, it is not done. It will never be done. A company that begins a cycle of constant layoffs is never done. You get to go through this every month not knowing if you have a job or not. Knowing and accepting that facts puts you ahead of the game. Plan your exit strategy now. Update your resume, begin networking externally, start looking for that new job, start adding to your emergency fund. Then, if you time things right, you will have that next job lined up, get laid off, bank that severance and move to that new employer. I did that and it has been great since. The severance in the market has done very well and only positives. There are great companies out there to work for. This is a little bit of a tough market right now, but it is improving. Unfortunately, it is the final quarter and companies are not looking to bring on too many new bodies now. Some are and that is good. Just start searching. The 1-finger salute as you walk out the door with no notice is the best way to pay them back for your hard work. Believe me, they do not care about you.

If Cisco want to change it will need to start at the top. They tried getting rid of some of the best people that are individual contributors and that has never worked going on 15 years this way.

Step 1. ELT must be removed by the board of directors or a activist shareholder need to step up

Step 2. Replace the entire ELT with Cisco original old guard who are at GCP, AWS, MSFT, and IBM. Pay these people good to put their heart and soul back into a company that lost it way and soul

Step 3. Redo the marketing team... it needs to show it a force like Zoom, VMware and AWS because the name Cisco is tarnished and need marketing to polish it up

Step 4. The hardware which is not commodity need to die. Everything should be moved to cloud/hybrid

Step 5. Hire back the Tac engineer for SJC and Sydney tac we are going to need those folks

Step 6. K–l all management spots that are not direct to the customer are product. That is a good 4K people that is red tape holding things back

Step 7. Ask Uncle John to agree Cisco should do this to get the ball moving right now as a way to show support for the mistake of putting chuck there

Step 8. Go get back MPLS and their team and just buy the startup they did I am sure it good we need them to help us

Step 9. Buy Arista not for sales as they s— but for the software engineering team that we have failed to do here their are bad a–

Step 10. Admit to everyone we made bad choices (like a addict), we are heads down to fix it? Get our p-ss-d off customer back and and go all in with a software/hybrid approach of ... wait for it.... CISCO CLOUD

There will always be layoffs at this company. After all, that's business strategy 101 at Cisco...every year sometimes twice a year. You can bank on it!

In the U.S. Phase One LR was Oct. 7. Phase Two notices go out Dec. 2 with an exit date of Jan. 4. Lesser package and no options, just, you're job is terminated.

In Israel will be held after the holiday period. Cisco is a very caring and sensitive company and will not do while the festivals are in progress. They finish at the weekend. Get in!!

Cisco always has layoffs every few months. This one was well publicized. You're only ever "safe" for a few months at a time.

This round is over for the US. International is still upcoming and will be bad.

Thank Chuck who is destroying Cisco and sinking it. Worst CEO and ELT in history that badly need to be purged.

You guys keep forgetting about EMEAR. Notifications have not been sent out in many countries in Europe. I can assume that this round is over for US though.

There will certainly be more over the coming months as they go through the various local processes for layoffs in countries around the world.

Different countries require different timeframes. Believe US is over for now. In the old days it was not unusual for qtr'ly "slim downs" to occur until business improved.
