Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is there an IPF that guarantees you are safe from Oct 7th layoffs?

I know that for the ER plan, people couldn't take it if their IPF was >= 1.4

Below 1 - Done or going to end up on a plan. 1-1.49 more than likely safe. 1.5 and above consider last.

My old manager told me if they are going to lay you off, they are required to give you an IPF of 1 or below, because they would not want to lay off a high performer.

How do you know you are not a target? What does IPF stand for?

Huh. 2016 they LR’ed two Cisco Fellows!!

Two Cisco Fellows compared to 6,498 other people. Two out of 6,500 people does not make a majority. I didn't say there weren't people above grade 10 impacted. I just disagreed with the statement that the impact was "usually to grade 10 and higher."

Moreover , LRs are usually on grade 10 and above.

I've known plenty of people in grades 8 or 9 who have been LR'd, but no one in grade 10 or higher. There's the token grade 6 that gets let go to offset the age of the grades 8 or 9.

When I was let go back in '16, they had to give me the anonymous list of people by grade and by age since I was over 40. It's been too long to remember the details, but the largest percentage of people were in grade 8, not 10+.

Yes, everyone at the grade 10 or higher were over 50, which is why there were a few grade 6 who were under 40. The bulk was the people in grade 8 between the ages of 40-50.

It's really just relatable inside of your current team, and not that comparable from year to year. Your manager compares you all teammates/divides their budget between you. So if you change teams, 2 might be as good as 1.2. And of course the factor of your base salary and grade: If you're a new hire, low paid grade 4, you can get an ipf of 3 without the actual dollar amount being significant.

So, it all depends...!

For normal folks, IPF is very hard to get beyond 1.2. I’ve gotten 1.3. I have a friend that got almost 1.4 this year, but that’s almost unheard of. Maybe it’s different for grade 13+, but I’d think the average is about 1.0.

I think this post/comments is incorrect. When I joined cisco back in 2014 and the subsequent years , I have average IPF of 1 and the way managers assign IPF is entirely a normal distribution curve in your grade level and as well as normal curve in the team. IPF of 0.8 and less is an area which is concerning and more prone to LRs and they see your performance for atleast period of 2 years to get you LRed based on your IPF.
And again , IPF doesnt reflect the projects which an employee is involved in and the current LRs is entirely about the headcount reduction and reaching a LR target.
If you have a IPF of 1 and above and you are involved in some project , then you should be safe.
Moreover , LRs are usually on grade 10 and above.

no, 1.5-2 is on the harder side to get from what i've seen. a few people i know who are really good and do plenty of work get 1.1-1.3

the "bullets" on the below post came out as numbering, screwing up my example... but you get my drift...

Being somewhat new to Cisco, I'm wondering what the rough percentile distribution of IPFs is? Does anyone have a feel? Does it go up to 2? Does it go below 1? If you had to guess, say in terms of stack ranked, what range and what percentage for IPFs?

I'm totally making this up, but like???:

  1. 5+ = top 5% (the stars?)
  2. 2-1.5 = middle 30-95% (the masses?)
  3. 0-1.2 = bottom 25 % (the mehs?)

Below 1 = last 5% (the ding dongs?)

Again, I JUST MADE THAT UP but does anyone have a REAL feel? Curious?

I got a huge bonus and was impacted. Based on my experience, the VP aligns employees to projects for the next fiscal year. Project alignment is not based on performance.

It's an easy method for VPs/Directors to protect their friends and family.
