Am I right in thinking that BP’s market cap is currently about the same as its debt?
Interesting comments on the below board but please do not be s—ered into believing all you read.

I was with BP for 40 years and have no mercy for the company. Absolutely pathetic management.
Full of as* kissers, friends of friends and ex-lovers.
I do feel sorry for the workers. They are the victims in all this. Especially the US workers.
It was a terrible merger for Amoco to allow BP to purchase them. A total disaster.
Amoco should have merged with Mobil when they had the chance.
Thank you Larry Fuller.
this sh– company needs to fold. it is nothing but misery, losses, and anger for employees and shareholders....one disaster and reorg after another. this t–d needs to be flushed ao that people can move on. The world would be a much better place without this sh–show. these sentiments were valid ten years ago...today, they are indisputable. Bp needs to go. Looney needs to go. The smiling a—kissers and yes-men need to go. Reasonable, erhical, hardworking people need to go elsewhere. This place is a circle of hell. It is where motivation, talent, and capital go to die. Let the end come swiftly...it won't end with a bang or a whimper but a wer, sloppy fart..but at least it will be over. Someone will wash thr underwear.
Such a nightmare for bp engineers lose their jobs and see their stock goes to nothing at the same time.
it will go to paper value~~~~
the nightmare must end. absolute misery for everyone except useless execs
BP stock is now trading below $17/share. The lowest it fell over the last 52 weeks was around $15. Even as all three indices increased, bp's share price has not increased. I certainly understand the discouragement.
At the same time that people are being laid off, their shares in bp stock have fallen dramatically in value. Though not as extreme as Enron where the company executives encouraged everyone to increase their position in Enron stocks, bp employees have certain holdings in the stock. This is tragic. Yes, I agree that the BOD has to have a chat with Looney about the current situation.
Something is going on internally imo. Going green is the future, we all know that. I can't fault BP for steering in that direction, however, the way Looney came in, full speed ahead and guns blazing made me suspicious immediately. It's quite one thing to make a steady and responsible shift over time to pulling the rug too quickly. It's almost as if the plan is to get bought out or merger. Likely with a big renewable company that doesn't need oil to survive like BP currently does. My suggestion, get out now!
Bp is completely fukked. It is a disaster for employees and shareholders. Bp needs to end
