Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Things have changed here

BP was never an ideal employer, but at least it used to treat its employees somewhat decently. Now even that is gone. This ELT couldn't care less about any of us and they are not afraid to show it. But it has always been known that how well you treat your employees is how well your company will do. Nobody should be surprised when BP starts to feel the effects on its bottom line.

I came to bp from a different industry and one that I thought was a good ole boy network, but it was nothing compared to bp. I mean the amount of pandering, and cheerleading of the "bp culture" is insane. Nothing gets done because everyone is too busy patting each other's back about how well they cheer on the bp way. Case in point the whole use of the word AGILE lol. My line manager literally told me that my work product and how I do my work is not important and I won't get anywhere in bp unless I get people to like me and start to champion the bp culture. I ended up being let go and couldn't be happier about it.

I completely agree with your statement. I have worked for 2 other oil companies and new at BP. But the cold shoulders and care free attitude is really interesting to watch. This behavior from senior management also comes down to employees not trusting each other - a business who lacks collaboration will fail in the long term.

Meh. Layoffs and restructurings have hit virtually every industry in the last two decades. It happens, and now it's happened at BP. Key is to not be bitter and put all energies to moving forward. Anger will destroy you. So shut up and get busy moving forward.
