People are weighing heavily on me this week so I wanted to post a quote that I have always absolutely loved and it has helped me in so many situations. I am not religious, but no matter what you believe, it still holds true.
"We often look to God when our foundation is shaking, only to learn He is the one shaking it"
If you are let go, you will be okay and it is part of your plan. There is something out there for you. Try to think back on life events where you did not end up OK. Like an unexpected cost drained your savings account or you had an unexpected house repair or something was lost in a catastrophe, you most likely ended up ok in the long run. If this pandemic has done any good, it is reminding us what's most important in life and a stupid job isn't anything close to that. Don't be afraid to explore your passions, whole other career path or even finally start your own business you've always thought about. If you're in Houston, there is a lot of stuff out there. It may not be in O&G and it may be a contractor position but there is a lot out there. Upgrade your LinkedIn and network like Hell. Use tools like Glassdoor to research salaries and company reviews. Tailor your resume to job postings and do NOT be afraid to inflate your previous salary and don't be afraid to ask for more money than you're making now, but if you can afford it, take a pay cut in order to be happy and content.
I'm rooting for everyone! Good luck.
