It seems as if belk is systematically trying to push out all full time associates, STM’s, Visual Associates, and HR associates by giving them an unbearable work load. If you notice, most Belk stores are not hiring for hardly any PERMANENT positions, it’s just seasonal. this is because once 2021 rolls around, and sales decline, stores will be closing and jobs will be on the chopping block. The “pickers” that they hire are literally working for $9 an hour and part time hours, but most quit within a few months or even weeks and then it’s a revolving door of mostly teenage to early 20s who don’t know any better. Maybe the end goal is to just have Belk just online? Who knows at this point. there is Absolutely no transparency with this company which is scary.

I am a “picker” at Belk’s. For over a year now. They finally made me full time by coding me in ladies department since fulfillment wasn’t a job yet. I agree with that first poster. I am still making 9 dollars an hour and doing two people’s work. Never go any type of raise at my year Mark, not even a penny. The new “flex associate” c-ap they are pushing on us is just to make us to more work. If we don’t agree to work in all areas of the store, we get no hours. I have seen 5 older associates with almost 15-20 years in resign this year. Just sad.
Basically they want people to work for scab wages and part time hours. good luck finding decent help with that.
Old tactic companies use when they are in serious financial trouble. Sears did the same thing and then started closing stores by the dozen
That's been the plan all along. Old timers have seen the writing on the wall.
