Why would they pull out of such a busy store with numerous locations ? Yes retail is dead but Target is not.

I am an indirect account manager. Target was one of the lowest producers for VZ. It was costing more to rent the display space than it was worth. A lot of targets still have prepaid and refill cards. Back when target had Market Source selling phones there was at least a little post paid going out. When it went to red shirts it dropped off because they don’t care. This isn’t anything new, vz dropped out of Sam’s and target 4-6 months ago for post paid.
Whoever said we pulled out of Walmart is incorrect. We still support tons of Walmart’s. There are some Walmart locations who are contracted to sell prepaid only, but most still have post paid with commissioned third party companies selling and are still supported by account managers.
They didn’t want another red baby?
What a stupid question with no detail. Get the facts, then ask.
Verizon’s pull out game is strong that’s why.
Results for Target were terrible. No buy in from their store leadership. Best Buy, and Walmart produce the best results and Had the best buy in from them.
I can see why they would remove the postpaid side of things but the prepaid? The boxes and refill cards sold themselves. Verizon’s big initiative and push right now is prepaid. There is more to the story. Sounds like the Radio Shack fiasco from years ago.
This happened months ago, odd people are just now seeing this. We left Target and Sams Club. We are still in Walmart. Overall we were not getting any numbers from Target and Sams Club was hit or miss. We are still in BestBuy and Costco. Overall not a big miss on overall Indirect distribution or sales numbers.
Been in the works they also left Walmart and sams club. Feeling Costco is next I think Verizon doesn’t want to be in big boxes anymore with out any say. In the big boxes you can’t coach etc to Verizon standards. Where as agent doors and core doors you can coach people out. I know every one is on the core doors are going to be gone soon. I just don’t see that it would be such a huge back fire if they did.
Not good news for indirect account managers.
An article online confirms this and Consumer Cellular took over most of the 1500 locations. There is no specific reason why VZW decided to leave.
Verizon leadership needed to make a bad decision that week.
It appears that ATT is now the new go to at Target. I’m curious as well why VZW left .
Really is this true?
