Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Market average - yes or no

Not so long ago I left Fiserv precisely because I always felt underpaid. Now in another thread here I saw a little discussion about whether a company pays a salary that is less than the market average or whether it’s all a matter of perception because other companies pay more than the market average.
Either way, the simple truth is that I wasn’t paid enough but I’m just wondering what you guys think about this? By the way, I referred to this post : @qlds+17tJ1un0

We don’t say any of that c-ap ABOUT paying a lower salary...that was the OFSV. AT THE NEW FISV WE PAY PEOPLE FAIRLY AND COMPETITIVELY. Ask any manager who knows what is going on the old days of cheap JY are long gone. There aren’t any credible complaints anymore about not paying competitively. I had an A player on my team and asked my hr support for a comp review, it was done quickly and effectively. Compensation no longer an issue. Give frank credit he knows how to run the operational side of a company.

It’s a payments industry thing, it’s not just Fiserv. They talk about “we pay a lower base but make it up with xyz”, except if xyz is a bonus it’s not paid out, or if it’s stock it’ll be options that don’t vest or are worthless, or something else that’s a shell game.

Fiserv is just a worse example because of Frank’s corporate raider mentality.

My department was underpaid and our boss tried to get a raise for us - this was well before the First Data people came in - and was turned down. After leaving town, a headhunter I spoke with and referred the wage to her — she could not believe it!!! So, yes, Fiserv was a nice place but with poor salary view. Now of course it is a bad place with poor salary or employment view.

In general Fiserv Employee's are underpaid for the work they do. You can move on to other companies and make more money, and have better benefits. The two things that were important to me during my time there was Stock discount and Health benefits. I have heard their benefits got stripped, and the stock discount has been washed away.

Move on from this sinking titanic. I saw FIS and square are hiring right now, and they are okay with remote workers. They also don't have all the spyware.
