Is the HW org under Ali ?
They are tasked with building x86 HW for Exadata and OCI, correct? So they are safe.

Calling people that are doing their jobs parasites and wishing people to loose their jobs.

Hey loser, learn the difference between the words “lose” and “loose”.

My Ouija board broke when I threw it across the room because Oracle can't make money on HW.

LE would have shut it down years ago,

Not true, but LE sees HW as a business in decline, and one he no longer cares about.

Here’s a LE quote from the June analysts call which includes his views on HW. Note that this was before the hardware market went off a cliff with the latest covid surge.

CTO Larry Ellison told investors that “we don’t care much about” those businesses in decline—it doesn’t matter to Oracle that it’s selling fewer SPARC servers than it did when it first bought Sun Microsystems.

That’s because those businesses on the rise, like its Fusion HCM and ERP cloud-based software, which grew by 27 percent and 32 percent respectively, the OCI Gen2 cloud, and the Oracle autonomous database offer much higher margins”

The net/net: unlike cloud software, HW IS a dying business, HW layoffs WILL continue, and spooked Oracle HW employees WILL continue to hang around this site making claims intended to prop their business up. — I’m glad I’m not in their shoes.

”The last 5 years the HW BU hasn’t generated jack”
If that was true, LE would have shut it down years ago

HW revenue has been in decline for 10 years (substantially so in the last 5 - look it up), and if this was not true then these sun leftovers would not feel compelled to spend time on this board, sweating it out trying to defend their biz here. Now they are operating under an ultimatum to fix the biz. We have seen this before and we know how this all ends for them and for Oracle.

The Sun HW business has generated $30b of profit for ORCL in the last 10 years.

Dork — you forgot to add that 99% of any HW profit (way, way less than 30b btw) was in the first few years after the acquisition. The last 5 years the HW BU hasn’t generated jack, other than paychecks for its parasite employees. In fact, the HW org itself can be thought of as one giant parasite. Nothing more.

Oh, and I almost forgot... you spend time fretting on this lay-off board because you’re SO confident that you won’t be whacked, since the org you work in is SO healthy and SO profitable, right?? But the reality is that you are a dead end employee, in a dead end job, with dead-end skills, in a dead end company. This is the end of the line for you bub. S—s to be you!

My Ouija board broke, so I come here daily to determine my stock picks.

Did it break, or merely “malfunction”?

Exhibit #1 Why Oracle fails. Organizations within the company are not synergized. There is no interaction between orgs. Leaders of org are at war with each other, more interested in “beating” them than working together. Employees are disrespected and taken advantage of by their mgmt and outside mgmt. one hundred acquisitions and still no k–ler product. What if they invested all the $ spent on acqs back into R&D, emp development and the customer experience? We’ll never know.

This “cash cow” mantra is typical of the ex-sun parasites who still bottom feed here. I won’t shed a tear to see more of them eliminated. I hear there are at least two more RIFs planned for them, one this quarter and one in Q3.

Support SW/HW is the cash cow and folks are laid off regardless. The pinch simply impacts the quality support that should be given to all customers.

Sorry, but hardware and associated revenue has been steadily declining for 10 years. It is not, and never has been a “cash cow”. If it were actually that, there would not be so many hardware layoffs and nobody in the HW org would bother with this board. The sooner the hardware losers accept that the sooner they will be able to move on with their lives.

Actually useful information on this site is virtually zero. You might as well resort to a Ouija board.

What's the web address for that forum?
