Why do people keep saying more layoffs in January? Which departments? Seems odd to speculate unless specifics are given.

People who defend magenta need to realize that you are not adding anything new. It’s simple math, COVID is the enemy to the human as it shows that you dont need people anymore and retail is dead. You can’t lay anyone off in 4th qtr when you finished the yearly budget in November. So anyone who is working there reading this, be prepared for a layoff in q1. Continue to be in denial if you want but if you question what you do all day and if you have a significant enough impact in the numbers then there is the answer of your fate. Again,You are not pushing anything new. You are maintaining. Companies don’t need many people to maintain. And dealers for Metro, look in the mirror. Your blood, sweat, and tears mean nothing to this regime. You are no longer building anything so you are not needed. You have already been consolidated, more to come. They can easily just add metro to their existing stores because they have the square footage to do so. This is not bitterness, this is simple math and history.
For a communication company, they really don’t communicate with their employees unless there’s some photo op to promote “transparency and diversity”. I have heard that there will be several rounds of layoffs in 2021. T-Mo is still really top heavy even without Sprint.
It’s almost like, in the absence of transparency, employees are left to try and hash it out amongst themselves.
Also, I am actually Nostradamus.
Shut up. None of you pretending to be in the know, know what you are talking about. Layoffs after mergers are common - for any company. Stop trying to act like Nostradamus - none of you know sh*t. Anything that happens won't be because you are psychic or a Mensa member. Everyone checking these boards is scared, trying to hedge. There is nothing special about any of us, it's a numbers game. Plan for all options and quit trying to pontificate like you are anything more....than you are. If there is a layoff? A good bunch of both company bases will be impacted. So just stop. Yes, it could be you too.
Not just MDM's. Zone Manager position now is utterly pointless. Wouldn't be surprised if all those remaining in that position are let go as well. Don't need them...
And with an unfocused and stagnant/not growing Metro business (that business is nothing more than round-trippers at this point), there's still WAY too many employees on that side. Expect a good many MDM's to be cut loose in either Q1 or Q2
What people keep saying there will be layoffs in January? Asking for a friend (you)?
Because January/February is generally the slowest time for retailers during the year. People are less apt to be spending money as well, which frees up businesses to focus on organizational changes without potentially affecting their ability to roll out products/sell stuff.
So will the severance benefits package.
============= January is repeatedly given by upper leadership as a deadline for full systems integration. Legacy yellow knowledge and skills will be much less relevant after that.
given the re org that just took place, I wouldn't be surprised of some are shed due to realignment. This is to be expected after the merger. And the dust wont settle for about another 1-2 years.

The same question (literally) was asked in another thread. Seems odd. What people keep saying there will be layoffs in January? Asking for a friend (you)?
