It's hard enough right now to find a job as it is. Add to that my age bracket (I'm in my mid-fifties) and what I'm learning is that it's impossible. Not only am I getting no offers, I can't seem to land an interview. To say it's demoralizing would be an understatement. Are others having better luck?

Ageism is a real thing despite what THEY want you to believe. As is reverse racism and gender prejudice. I see these id–ts posting here who haven't experienced it or probably experienced being laid off. There are growing industries out there, go after them and be prepared to move it needed.
You definitely have to treat finding a job as your job as previously said.
For a very high percentage of us who are 55+ the chances of finding another job in this industry now are next to impossible. If you still plan to jump into the job search, you had better prepare for at LEAST of year of searching. There's absolutely nothing out there.
It will likely be either somehow change careers, or retire early. I hope you have prepared for the retirement scenario.
Hey, Mr. Put-Out-to-Pasture! GFY!
I cant imagine the company thinks anyone is going to actually work once they get their 60 days notice....maybe take some stress leave or something.
Are you able work as an independent contractor/consultant? You trade job security for freedom and higher pay, but ageism isn't really a thing in that market, if anything age/experience is considered to be a positive attribute.
Good luck, try to stay positive and something will come up.
The expression "put out to pasture" is around for a reason. Go read your newspaper and leave the real work to the rest of us.
Ageism exists but you have to keep trying. Never give up. never give up and you will succeed
It is not impossible. You need to polish your resume and search. Grow your ZlinkedIn network.
Don’t limit yourself. If you have to go back to school.
Don’t give up.
Context? Did you EOI? How long have you been looking? Job title? Before joining BP, I was laid off from my previous company. Entire department got eliminated. It took 6 months of ground pounding before I got an offer. Use your network. Don't give up. Treat finding a job AS YOUR JOB. Good luck!
