Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Nobody will want to join

Allstate is building such a lousy reputation as an employer that it's bound to come back to bite it in the a–. The company has laid off so many people (and it continues to lay off on regular bases) and created such toxic work environment that I'm pretty sure when it needs more employees, nobody will want to join. Or let me rephrase that, nobody worth their salt will want to join. The current horrible behavior will cost the company in the long run...

Good luck if you stay. You will need it. You will be overworked and underpaid given the unpaid overtime. They have you coming and going.

For this reason I now check a company’s history as a stable employer before applying.if a company has a tendency to lay off frequently I will not be working there.

Some agencies have lost up to 30% of their long-term clients as they are not buying the direction of the company. Emphasis in sales is to throw apps at the wall as fast and as many as you can. Agencies are run on: "Bonus, bonus, bonus" so the short term gains are lost in the renewal defections ad infinitum. Agency service is a thing of the past as many agency owners are absentee landlords of the book-of-business and many do not even talk to their clients let alone help them. The current new business model has been failing for over ten years - no wonder the income to the company has diminished and profits are obscure. It's vary hard to dream about being in "good hands" when you get kicked in the ar$se at the same time.

At some point in the future I am hopeful Allstate will recover and become a company that has respect among its workforce. In the 90's my job was great, leaders were respected, we all worked for one goal = customer satisfaction. Sadly this no longer rings true. We worked 10 hour days if needed in the auto group because we were respected and appreciated for our skill and knowledge. We knew the time would be made up another day and compensated for. Turn the page to the past 5-6 years the transition to a robotic supervision style, customer satisfaction = very little now, a plan in place that is losing skilled and talented employees to cut payroll, resembles the tactics of the Sears and Roebuck that closed at a nearby mall in my town. To all the effected employees best wishes there are a lot of employers that will value our skill and training that Allstate is wasting. Instead of being cutting edge Allstate appears to want to resemble the Lizard and Flo and also the Emu.
