This year is going to be really hard on my family. We can barely pay our bills since they changed commission so we are left with eating a lot of top ramen and what is donated by family. They don’t realize what they have done to their high earning reps. I get they were going to do it at some point but I can’t even go out right now and find another job that comes close, cause other companies are laying off too. I feel really bad for my kids because I can’t even afford to buy them a nice gift this year and it breaks my heart. Thanks Verizon for hurting our family...

Time to move on. Verizon will s— the blood out of you, kick you while you are down and then run over you with a tank.
What a crybaby posting.. OP! OP! S— it up and stop crying like a little baby!
50k a year isn't much to ask just saying.
I left the company about a month ago, and I definitely feel the hurt regarding the commission changes. I was making quite a bit less money as well as a result. But unlike you, I never looked at my commission as a guaranteed part of my monthly salary, so never lived beyond the means of my hourly wage. If you are having trouble paying bills, I feel bad for you, but you can only blame yourself for not budgeting properly and treating your commission as a guarantee.
Sorry to anyone effected by the pay cut ... I really am but if you didn't see this coming you are an id–t. You were heavly over paid before maybe not you personally, you personally may be worth 100K a year.... Go find someone to give it to you then... They don't owe you anything and you should be thankful you have a job. Talking about struggling I am pretty sure if you are worried about Christmas gifts then you are blessed enough in these times... Count what you have not what you are missing.
What a joke this string is, just a bunch of whining and needy brats. GROW UP!
Able to retire early? You must have entered the workforce during a growth period. Millennials had to deal with the financial crisis, H1b visas, outsourcing, and coronavirus. Graduating from college with student loan debt, while watching home ownership become unobtainable. Household incomes have remained stagnant for years with increased inflation.
This isn't the 1990's anymore. Corporations are quietly laying off full-time employees and replacing them with temp workers without benefits.
@oem+17I0cWie sorry but Finances 101 DOES teach you personal budgeting. Verizon is a business, not a charity. And yea, the socially responsible stuff they spout is BS. However, everyone should take responsibility for their own finances, live within their means and save for a rainy day. This is what I was taught to get through the rough times and how I was able to retire early when my job was outsourced. So while I sympathize with the OP, you can't blame their situation on Verizon. They even admit they knew it was coming and yet did nothing to prepare for it.
Hey all! Here i9s what a Troll posting looks like. So many trolls on this board! "Verizon is quietly outsourcing high income skill jobs overseas, the jobs not outsourced will be filled with H1B visa hires. "
I mean you did have years of warning that this was coming. If you assumed they would never change commission and you’d be able to make 2-4K forever than idk what to tell you. It’s retail and the position can be filled by just about anyone who applies.
Maybe you should find another Job... I mean you are claiming all these things as so bad and horrible and Verizon is not treating you great. Only an id–t stays in a job that hate and works for a company they dislike.
Verizon is quietly outsourcing high income skill jobs overseas, the jobs not outsourced will be filled with H1B visa hires.
I know the OP is a troll and is trolling . However on a serious note, to anyone who is struggling with our comission being lowered, try to learn a high income skill, now a days with so much YouTube knowledge you can do so much “side hustles” to bring extra income . I’m currently working on some side projects and still working for vzw .
Nice fan fiction.

Telesales and CS postions are both still a huge pay cut for many reps in many areas of the country. Also, most reps haven't had the opportunity to switch to Telesales or CS because those positions were not offered in many markets or their store was being closed or overstaffed under the new model.
@paw+17I0cWie
Finance 101 doesn't teach personal budgeting, in fact it teaches companies like Verizon to lower their payroll which is exactly what they've done while claiming to be socially responsible and making the world a better place, all done during a pandemic when they know their reps will have a tough time finding a new job.
@gxl+17I0cWie
Corporate greed has proliferated under both parties in America for decades.
@Everyone
I am surprised by the cold-hearted lack of empathy here. I truly hope none of you are ever in this position and especially when you have children to support. It is far easier to judge and be cruel than to put yourself in OP's place. Please find a way to be kind and supportive, we all need more of that right now.
So I guess I'm curious why you would stay in retail if you were given the opportunity to switch to telesales or customer service? At the time these offers were made you already knew about the changes to retail commission.
Hopefully they have a heart and give us a christmas bonus or something. I used to smash 4k checks every nov and dec. That isn't even a possibility anymore. Give a small bonus based on tenure please. Us retail folks need it. You have no idea how rough this year has been for us all both work and personal.
I am truly sorry for the struggle you are going through, but Finances 101 tells you that you should not take commission into consideration when developing a household budget. The same goes for the STI that non-sales people get. It can go away at any time and should never be considered part of your regular income. My job was outsourced this year and I've had to adjust. You do what you have to do. Perhaps you can pick up a part time or seasonal job to get you through until hiring opens back up. Your kids will love you whether they get gifts or not. Christmas isn't about presents.
