Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Is it over for 2020?

Has the dust settled? Are we done with layoffs for the year?
Was it over 500 people after all?

If the past is any indication they the will utilize the week before Thanksgiving and Christmas to execute further waves of layoffs. I got someones job that was outgoing in the 2009 layoffs, have seen 2 major ones since then with many, many reorgs of this or that in the meantime. Somehow I’ve been able to dodge around and stay working on great teams of people with about a 50% split between really good and really bad leadership. I’m happy with the work I’ve gotten to contribute too but at the end of the day I hope they let me go. It’s too hard on my soul to see HR flush such a great company. It’s not easy to promote talent at Nike and more likely as a new hire you’re going to get strung along on some ETW bullhonkey for the next 3 years. Writing is on the wall, 80% of the good ones left are looking for their next out. Black badge has lost its luster.

There’s a second wave, now that they’ve set up what the new structure is - they will look into the supporting functions and do cuts from there. I’d say end Q3 (EMEA even longer since they are on a different timeline).

Are the HR calls taking place in the mornings? Or do they happen later on in the day. I’ve been told NA layoffs should be do for the most part by tomorrow.

Some of the Operations groups were put on hold until January for their restructuring.

It depends on which org you belong to. For some orgs that got hit hard like Creation, yes, this phase is over, for some others like Tech probably will end some time next year.

With the Covid situation worsens, as well as economy, who knows what can happen next?
