Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

2017 Survivor

Been away from Nike since the 2017 layoff and recently heard from friends that another round was going on.

I am not going to go into a role of bashing Nike but I will say that a lot of good people were let go in 2017 that were honest, hardworking people and really didn't deserve the treatment they received. I expect something similar is going on now. This is a tough situation, especially for a lot of the people who have been there 10+ years, but know that you'll get through it, even in a pandemic, and things just might get better from an employment perspective.

I went on to find a job with a really good company where my values and integrity were respected. Benefits were moderately better and the pay was substantially better.

Best wishes to you all.

I too lived through the "Summer of Change" in 2017...but have been cut since. It's a strange place (outside the berm) after you've been inside for a length of time. There is an adjustment period for sure. My takeaway is that I am grateful for what Nike offered me and the things I was able to do and experience while there. Now I am on to a new adventure, and am totally at peace with it all.
At the end of the day - Nike is a corporation. This is how corporate America works. You're valuable one minute, gone the next - and always expendable. Just enjoy what you have in the moment.
