Agree similar to SpaceX Engineering achievements today the core are very experienced Aerospace Engineers who are industry experts.

With NASA leadership and manage team they had to and fetch the solid rocket booster out of the ocean. With a very accomplished Leadership and management treat along with creating a positive work environment and innovative culture SpaceX with extreme precision can land the boosters on a barge at sea

Compaq hired veteran engineers with an average of 15 years experience, with Engineering Degrees from ABET Engineering Schools. These Engineers came from a Cross section of different industries (Defense, NASA, IT, etc...). WIth the Outsourcing/Offshoring of R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain. The Tax Advantage Manufacturing moved Engineering expertise out of the door and down the street to the Foxconn Site.

Agree the current state of Engineering Expertise at HPE is very pathetic. A better question maybe How Did this lack of Engineering prowess evolve to what it became with the Outsourcing and Offshoring. Many Engineering positions today are filled by people who have no Engineering Degrees or experiences as Engineers. What you have are Administrative Assistants, Factory Operators, Technicians, Contract Workers, New Products Program Mgrs, Engineering Program Managers, who have been promoted to the Title of Engineers. Very sad when you bestow a title on Duck that Duck is still a Duck.

Welcome to the new Dumbed down HPE.

People just don’t know how incompetent engineers and architects are at HPE! Lots of pig brains! I don’t mean to insult anyone, it’s just the reality!

Cost cutting is a business strategy for incompetent leadership that lack creativity and strategic vision. It's and admission of defeat. It's basically saying: "We can't bring in more money through innovation, so we'd better sell the same old sh– with lower overhead." True leaders focus on growing revenue rather than cutting costs.

The old HP made innovative products that could be sold at a premium. Those days are long gone. Sending engineering to Taiwan is the exact opposite of what HPE should be doing.

Observed many co-workers who were part of he WFR. How the WFR was communicated and implemented left much to be desired. The people managers lacked integrity and honesty. In addition to reeking of nepotism, good old boy, and good old gal networks and schema.

The lack of vision, strategy, and leadership and managerial incompetence is what failed at HPE. WFRs as a business strategy will not be remedied by continuous layoffs and movement of jobs overseas.

This is very similar to last year the WFRs hit mid Oct. 2019 with the termination date aligned with the End of 4Q for Taxes.

Last year a lot of very dedicated member of the Houston Based Engineering team were WFRed. So many such 4th Floor West side of CCM7 the utilites were almost cut off due to the number of R&D Engineering persons no longer seated in the cubicles due to the TRANSITION OF JOBs to Taiwan by Jim Kuo VP.

In fairness many of those very season and high level Engineering R&D team members were told previously that you primary purpose of lasting until Oct. 31, 2019 was to provide On The Job Training to the very "low skilled" Engineering Team in Taiwan.

Those very professional Houston R&D team members many from the Compaq years when Design was done here in Houston.

But it is what it is...............BS
