Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

After earnings today, how much will CDA move the needle?

Are we expecting MORE than an 82% increase in digital sales post CDA?

Interesting to read JD’s email. It couldn’t have come across more muted and blasé. Feels like maybe the team is feeling pressure to justify why we are laying off longtime, valuable employees while the stock price is roaring.

Why are we doing CDA again? It’s certainly not grounded in our ‘Maxims’ (old or new) and laying people off in the midst of a pandemic and global economic crisis certainly isn’t ‘Do the Right Thing’...

CDA has been exposed...

Funny how they pumped on the Quarter call about being a diverse company but the new leadership team is mostly composed of "True Oregonians" or "Longtime Nike". Guess they can eat crow on these statements. Guess the knights can keep their Boys Club in order. Glad your truly giving newer employees a chance at opportunities.

@pjr, yes, I would not put that beyond the realm of possibility; Nike's "leadership" does that sort of thing. Well, in that case I still have a solid 4 years ahead of me qualify give the 65 rule. Suddenly, I am rather depressed and it is not because I ONLY have, potentially, 4 years. It is because I may not get laidoff this time around.

Looks like a classic "Rule 65" reorganization. If your age + years of service add up to 65, then you are getting let go. You know, so the organization more closely mirrors its consumer base.

You can't really fault Nike for being all about shareholder value and $s. As a publicly traded company they have an obligation to shareholders. That said, HR has a lot of work cut out for themselves. Seems like they have done a pi$$ poor job on employee morale and engagement.
CDA can be incredibly well done, as long as they are vision, strategy, mission and purpose behind it. As for letting long-term employees go and bring in new ones, let me tell y'all, this happens everywhere is not exclusive to Nike.

@OP, there was never a true CDA; it was just a cover up for the new leadership team to bring in their type of employees and use this opportunity to get rid of many others. Nike does this every once in a while. Anyone who bought into CDA is naïve! It is about the $s.
