I'm concerned about returning to the office. I'm concerned not only because of COVID, but also about the fact that Enbridge does not adhere to its own value of safety.
In Ontario, cases are on the rise, indoor gatherings have been limited once again, and masks continue to be required indoors, and yet our company effectively forces people to come into work despite the tightening of restrictions elsewhere.
We are normalizing warning signs. This is one of the Human Factors Enbridge training has drilled into me and which Enbridge is forgetting.
COVID is still something to be cautious of. Some of us are tired of hearing about it, I know I am, but it is still putting people into the hospital and it is still k–ling people.
We should remember this and not normalize the warning signs. There are nearly 3000 dead Ontarians.
The justification for returning to work, that we will collaborate better and build better relationships is valid to a degree, but it is not worth the life of even a single employee or family member.
The individuals who enabled the return to office policy should stop and think about the repercussions of their actions. It may not be popular to push back against a superior, but if integrity means anything, it means exactly that.
We should all push back on the RTO policy. Not because we're scared, but because it's the right thing to do and is in keeping with Enbridge values.
