IT folks are literally crying. Even after complaining to leadership no use

Today IT org has became a most stressful place to work. Even though it has been taken to leader ship they didn't turn positive. As usual diplomatic answers. No one is convinced with the work culture. What has really changed?

  1. We lost good leader ship team especially on wireless.
  2. whole leadership today is from wireline thus stress.
  3. poor planning in every program. In the want of delivering quick.
  4. GDM is utter failure model.
  5. Vendors lack knowledge and that is additional stress
  6. Lot of senior managers today are just back of numbers. Too much of micro management. Which is a bad culture.
  7. Employees are feeling we are no more a 5 day company. At times 6 days and at times 7 days a week.
  8. even though vz has good leave policy. IT teams are struggling to utilize them.
  9. Many people who are still in the same band for 8 to 9 years. Morale is low.
  10. many new managers who joined recently or year back still don't get the vz culture. Also RTEa are real hell. They don't know how many stories can be created and how much knowledge they possess on the product. In my view agile/rte are extra luggage. When dev and qa and business requirements are clear it will very well work. We don't need RTEa who don't have technical knowledge. They simply show case sending emails ans make noise and escalations.

Not sure why any member of IT with legitimate skills would stay at VZ.

I’d love to see the Gallup survey issued to all of the IT contractors.

Shank is the Shakespearean “Mad king” from game of thrones or king Lear , when the chalice gets full with corruption and incompetence , they resort to their worst instincts, nepotism , back stabbing , lying and general insanity. Unfortunately people and the company suffer. How Verizon stock is 50% undervalued in this day of 2% interest rate. Because every year we go backwards technologically. Only ONE person to blame.

The INFY, VZ rebadged, model is not very successful either. INFY mass reductions of rebadged folks. By the end of this calendar year the remaining resultant will be 10% of the rebadgers. INFY reduces bench stays (from 90 work days to 45 workdays) for rebadgers displaced.

IT leaders, just shameful to know how much better things could be in the IT workplace, if there was accountability and transparency.

IT hierarchy, executives, again need to be reorganized and flattened. This needs to go up from ITs' Senior Managers to the top of IT – and specifically the management that is polarized to not empower their IT professionals thus collecting a paycheck.

When will the c-suite get it and take action. Clearly, the c-suite does not read this board as all posters are tarnished disenfranchised.

pMKq I must have hit a nerve. I spent 28 year in that place. The first 22 years were great....the last 6 s—ed. You must be watching this board because you know VZ IT would throw you out with the trash without blinking an eye. You don’t want to give up what...vacation, STI. Trust me pal there is plenty of great places to work at instead of waiting for the hammer to drop at a company that doesn’t give a sh– about you. Next time they don’t meet their numbers they will go to the managers and ask for names. You feel like you will be OK because you have been busting your but for this company for many years, but the truth is your salary can pay for 3 offshore resources. You will get a sick feeling in your stomach because you know something is up. You get called to a meeting on a Thursday and be told ‘this was tough but we have to let you go’ . You will start looking then but It might be tough to find a job. Why not look while you have a job instead of waiting to have a heart attack when you are 55 because of the stress your under.

Let’s face it you stay in IT as you can’t go anywhere else

I work in finance . They celebrate 1 ERP. We made the most progress five years back and got to 3 . Since then 100s of millions invested and nothing . One erp is a joke and we celebrate. We still have 3

I am so sorry to hear how bad it is gotten. I feel for my friends that stayed behind. I left with the VSP and landed in a great place. I never realized how toxic that environment was until I experienced something so different. In my new company we are agile with a lot of resources all over the world. I work on an amazing team from offshore and onshore. The ‘Indian’ manager I work for is amazing and empowers his people and stays out of the way unless you need his help. I HATED the Indian execs at VZ. They didn’t give a sh$t about anyone. Just loved to bark orders and view you as a worthless resource. If you hate it...start looking. There is definitely better pastures with the same benefits or better out there.
