@4Vjuk+16zEvLP3 What potential increment? I thought we were looking at potential bonus cut!

Increments won’t be high like yesteryears. You can see China’s increment as an example. Micron sounds a lot better - at least they won’t be letting Thai HR decide the fate of your AWS

Received an offer from micron, should I jump or should I stay for the potential increment at the end of this year…

Sour grapes. Employees resigned for the better but some stuck in EM feeling uneasy about it. Without looking at ownself, labelled leavers as incapable to make own self feel better. Mental clinic most likely can help such mental issues, but not guaranteed. Go look into the mirror first.

Bloomberg) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. is preparing to reduce headcount at its U.S. offices by between 5% and 10% annually for the next three to five years by using its performance-evaluation system to suss out low performers, according to people familiar with the matter.

The cuts will target the lowest-rated employees relative to peers, and for that reason will not be characterized as layoffs. How about us?

Singapore is like the US. High cost country. Lots of quiet Asians working here. Most likely to get PIPed for lack of visibility. Find a company who doesn’t value show boating that much.

Apple, Google, Amazon are hiring too. Unlike Exxon, there’s actually other companies who are booming. Save yourself, apply to those companies and spare yourself the pain of breaking your back for the company only to be told you need improvements with vague feedback. When in reality, you just don’t have enough visibility. Good luck!

You can shout Heil GC, Heil Exxon on your way out!

Should always treat EM as a stepping stone. When time to quit, put the nonsense a side for the next unlucky person. heads up high and straight, leave for a real fulfilling career outside. Strategize properly, then head to Shopee~

Wah- seems like shopee is steady P-m bee bee, hiring so many of our folks. Yet our HR don’t benchmark against them? Why? Shopee not in Thailand yet is it? Thailand HR don’t know what’s going on? Even their RSUs awards are so much more aggressive than ours and SEA is doing so much better than XOM.

I'm doing bare minimum nowadays while upskilling after office hours to jump to other industry. Doing extra is worthless. If kena PIP, I'm ready financially. If I'm safe this round, I have another year to continue upskilling while being on payroll.

Shout with me fellas, like how they do in SCP - Shopee shopee # 1. Everyone is just working hard to get that shopee offer and they are out. Management is saying attrition is still manageable, and obviously, they don’t give a sh-t about your departure because it doesn’t affect their pay. In fact, you will help them to have better packages because you boosted their headcount KPI. So let’s go for this win-win solution by leaving for Shopee!

Young grads are encouraged to stay away, as they will never grow and always at the mercy of the EM boomers. Boomers aim is to maintain fat cheques, and make the poor kids work harder at lowest pay possible.

A boomer with 30 years and earning in excess of $20K/mth will get something to the tune of $600K and more, if given a compensation package of 1 month for every year of service!!

That’s right. At least half a million, or more.

No way that EM is gonna waste its hard-earned, shareholders’ money - just to severe the services of such venerable boomers right?

Just let them ride into the sunset lah.
They are all asset-rich and cash-rich hor.

Its not that those left behind have no courage no ba--s to quit
The boomers is just auto cruising
Offer us the package and see how many boomers will happily go
Others no choice stay becoz of commitment
So nothing wrong to stay or to go for whatever reasons

I felt pathetic of those Em folks who “look down” on pple who joined Shopee. It just enforces the fact that pple in EM is so dated like fossil ! For those who are ignorant, even our own execs openly admitted that pple who did well in EM not necessarily will do well outside of EM. They openly admitted that EM has its own unique approach in identifying leaders which might not be consistent with other organisations. So wake up and don’t get stuck in your ivory tower ! Wake up also if u think there is still a bright future ahead … which is nothing but a mirage .

Shopee on the right direction, continue hire young EM employees, so that we can mature and open our vision to outside world. Sour grapes for those stuck too long in EM, no chance to venture out already then become jealous.

Playing dirty even against own nationality in a country with strong union. What more can you expect of the treatment of locals with a practically non existent union and pro corporate government? Go figure.

KLTC Engineers are being headhunt by Shopee with better pay. Yet the Office Manager (Singaporean) is still in denial that the HR grand compensation plan is amazing and Shopee is not playing fair. A fail attempt to stop KLTC ever growing attrition.

when young ones are leaving for Shopee, it makes
local management feels powerless, stupid and angst. They can't accept that EM is now behind Shopee. Younger executives would help, not muggers hugging fat rice bowl for two decades, such unhealthy generation gaps.

Been working here for a while. I have seen so many hypocrites acting with a smile behind their evil plot. These hypocrites stirred sh-t to underplay others credit, form their own group to badmouth others and aim to pull only their own kind of people (you know who you are)…. I sincerely hope those who left the company do not have to work with these hypocrites anymore.

Easy hire typically also means easy fire. This is a common HR strategy. What's more important is how you perform on the job in real world. EM is seriously backwards if all they care for is paper qualification. Now, difficult hire does it also mean difficult fire? I don't think so right? Your loyalty means nuts to them.
I also don't understand why people are salty about Shopee. Ecommerce is here to stay, it's growth looks good. Why can't you be happy for those who left for Shopee? They seem happy with their decision.
EM is better than everyone else is such a snobbish passé. If you're unhappy with where you are that's fine but putting others down is just tasteless.

Shopee is a good place to be. Who cares if hiring standards are low? EM lowered standards for fresh grads when there was a hiring bo-m a couple of years back as well.

They offered me a 15% raise from my current pay (with room for negotiation even beyond this), and increments/progression is better than what we have. They were transparent in saying that work life balance is not as great, but you get faster progression and experience in an industry that is growing.
