After going through 3 turnarounds and 1yr of lead tech role for major equipment outage, sad to say I am ready to leave this highly toxic workplace environment.

seem like exxon vision for 2022 is to make more people leave, as much as possible.

No you didnt get it for NSI and PIP part, lady boss.

Your answer is like: Okay guys, we know we have stabbed you, and we know you were bleeding, but we put a plastic on your wound to help you what, and in the end you didnt die (90% chance donnt die), so why complain???

WTF.

Totally irrelevant. Today's com session.

It is like management is on one side, employees are the other side, Pacific Ocean is in the middle. - totally disengaged.

Keep talking about the increasing cash flow and all the great plans, forgeting that great plans need people to execute. People are disengaged and feeling depressed by your NSI plans!!!
Showing screenshots of zoom calls means nothing for us.

Supervisor at 35. Advisor at 36. Because never kiss a-s hard enough, and the nose is not brown enough, and the skin is not white enough.

Supervisor at 35. PIP candidate at 36. That’s how fast fortunes change. Unless you have godma, godpa. But if you have, how come only supervisor at 35.

Funny these days they start promoting mediocre. Cause all the talents either moved up already or had left the company. Left those "loyal" and "hardworking" and mediocre people that finally got some attention. These are the Fort holders. The defenders. The mediocres.

Supervisor at 35 is not hipo. Please. Manager at 35 is only so-so and I’m not even sure if that’s a POT 38 level progression. So get ready to be PIPed out at 45, since you are not a protected species. Only if you are POT38+ will you be spared from any harm. The rest are just making up the numbers and getting whipped whenever required.

No way GC will
Be made redundant. Can’t you see how pleased Jack is with her, when jack was in Singapore.

So you better take care of yourself pal.

It will be naive to think that fuel , lubes and chemical have no difference . Although we are all EM , the 3 BLs are pretty different in cultures . Suggest you do your research before u step on minefield . As for GC …. It might b finally her turn to be made redundant. For her , financially she is sound , unlike commoners like us. All she feels will be bruised ego… but again she can use her LCM title to seek job outside if she is too egoistic to let go of corporate life n retire . Better spend time worrying for ourselves and plan for bcp lah

It’s okay. No differences between lubes, fuels or chem. GC will unite us all. We are ExxonMobil! Let’s shout PIP PIP hooray!

Always must have a plan B. Don’t feel like writing this year PADP, rather spend more time job hunting. New reorganisation coincide in April ranking cycle and will be interesting to see.

@8Orku+16zEvLP3. No wonder you are where u are . My goodness , your mentality is worrying . U are very Indoctrinated. At 35yrs old , u don’t have the gut to venture out for another 30yrs of runway ? That speaks volume of how lowly u view your skill set . Sad .

Agree with below comments.
The positions of DH and DM will just be less and less, and that is obvious to many people, how come people on this forum still believe they got better chance instead of worse chance to make DH?
You must differentiate between what you want and what the reality is. Ignoring that, will lead to misery life for you in EM.

And what is worse, your EM management skills, wont be recognized outside EM as those skills were tailored for EM only. The real world will think you talk sh*t when you speak in your EM way, this has been testified by many folks from their interviews while they wanted to jump ship.

Ok lah, all good luck. End of the day, it is just personal choice and your are responsibile for your own choice. Thats it.

Don’t know what is the announcement in Apr? Let us look into history and then do the projection . What was the outcome of fuel and lubes merger ? Unprecedented act of retrenchment of 300 workers, implementation of mandatory pip of 8-10%, elimination of club membership and interest free car loan, downgrade of medical benefit etc . In the retrenchment exercise , it was very clear that heritage fuel mgmt eliminated all the lubes working personnel and vice versa. Although on the surface they merge as one “ family” but underneath they are very much divided . Now F&L merge into chemical ( I see it more of chemical acquired F&L) … are you naive enough to believe we will expand and grow ? History is likely to replay itself ie it will “ streamline” or “ right sizing” . Within the next 5 yrs , lubes being a dying cash cow could potentially be divested and sold off . Company will collect brand royalty. What abt fuel ? Fuel bz is a dog! There is no gem in this business, the only gem which is retail will soon becoming a dog because of EV cars ! All these will happen within the next 10 years . For pple in their mid 30s , I don’t know why you folks are still talking abt DH etc in this forum u will not have a job by then. Let me tell u that F&L merger into chemical , I heard this rumour way back when the company announced merger of Fuel
And lubes ! The selling of lubes bz as the game plan was also told during that time …. Now I am seeing it unfolding …For me , my only objective this year is to look out for another runway ….something with a better future . Ciao !

There have been many employees told after 40 years old that they were too old to be a Department Head or Director. They were told during EADS reviews that their job after 40 years old was to be an Advisor and Mentor to the Department Head so that the DH could avoid stepping on land mines early in their management career.

@8Nthl+16zEvLP3 but why like that.. I gave my life and soul to the company... ever since the layoffs I've been doing the work of 2-3 people. Many people on my team quit, no replacement, but I suck it up with no complaint, just take on the workload.

My dream is to make DH, but you are right. It seems I'm just being taken for a fool.

What will do you if you are me.

  • Supervisor at 35

Look at the general age of the DHs around you first … if you are not a DH by your late-30’s or early-40’s, do you mean you still hope to be a DH in your 50’s?
I think your manager doom you only lah.
Playing with your feelings to stay on in the company, to lock you in, as you age.

No.
A 50 yr old DH and earning up to $400K pa (with other material perks, interest-free car loan, country club membership, EM stock options) and probably owning landed property in SG ….. staying on in EM is a very wise decision indeed. Especially with such a short runway left!
To earn that kind of money outside EM, he would need to be at least a director, or MD of an SME … and probably shoulder broader responsibilities!
