Any idea how many sacrificial lambs will be Sporeans from the 14000 job cuts ? I think current local spore executives need to be cleaned up. Too many useless mgrs not doing much to local workforce . They have done more destruction than development. They need to be made answerable for the unprecedented disastrous state APAC is suffering .

Well, I disagree.
The so called disengagement is just for show, to you guys that we are fighting, but the local management knows they cannot fight with their bosses, as this is definitely assessed in their PA, you think they donno about what is going on?
They know better that you andbme, but the show, as a mitigation to your anxienty, has to go on.
Results? Who fxxk cares.

Dallas masters are always right. Fxxk off, asians.

Look like there is a disengagement between HQ and local management. Local would like to start hiring and HQ is making used of HR to slow down the processes. Do remember, end of the day we still need to cut 14,000 jobs by end of 2022. So use your a-s to think also know la…

Suggest PIP those who spend time in composing "MySGCX" or "WINS", "ONES" bushhhits.
A waste of company resources to build stupid personal visibility.
If you want visibility, do your work well, not licking well. Ok folks?
Jurong lost so many people, yet you are still chanting "becoz of you", fxxk lah, stuipd and stubborn, how about you say this to those left company already?

Attrition seems to be slowing. Not sure if everyone is waiting for the NSI % communications. If you are, please don’t hold your breath for it. It’s not going to be a lot lower. Get the he-l out while you can. You don’t owe the company anything. Good luck

9myts+16zEvLP3,
Don’t you realised by now that the execs are very good at such words that sound meaningful but meant nothing ? It’s rhetoric as usual. If we are still d-mb enough to buy this statement of “employees are the centre of the organisation then we have ourselves to blame in the near future” . The truth is shareholders ‘ interest will come first , to make it worst , all these execs r all major shareholders. So are u still naive and d-mb enough to believe u are the first ? The next time when it needs to cut , it will be again employees … if you don’t believe go and validate for yourselves . Each time a company cut employees the stock price increases ! So wake up dreamers ! I have already woken up … next mth is my turn to throw my resignation. Guess what? I am actually looking forward to it with great excitement . It’s like finally walking out of a destructive and deceptive marriage where there is no such commitment of “ till death do we part “ . Rather “ it’s for good time not bad “ - it’s so f@@king liberating !

Sadly management doesnt have the proper management skills if all managers has no power of ranking, all managers will be like shxxt ho-e, everyone will shxt on it. But the fact is they have lots of power and does have power curruption, power corruption does not means always collect money exclusively like in other places but can be quite disturbing and annoying in the workplace like rank you down if you disagree anything. Ranking session is near so watch out. Only advise to young folks think your career in long term perspective, read the post here carefully. You maybe in the sweet spot or claimed by your manager as hipo now, give you false sense of promising future and nice hook. It is hard to imagine 10yrs 20yrs later if you will be stuck in somewhere in this com. But the chances are high. Jump if you have gain excellent skills, pursue best industry vs dying asset and in crisis and dangerous work place, asset heavy industry hard to make money nowadays. Even make tons of money your salay is fixed no such extra bonus in last 30yrs..history doesnt lie.

I have been in FEI for more than 10 years now. In the past FEI was split into different departments. Post 2016, this department has been in rapid decline, largely due to the management. Advise EM top management to restructure this department, including changing the DH and SLSes. All doing a terrible job!

because the management in singapore can't do anything about it. Not empowered and they will not make the big moves to risk their career. To them, status quo is good until their next move comes in. See recent announcement, managers moving around while cheering we are exxonmobil and sharing career development talks to the newer folks while people who had to cover 3 man job are still stucked in the same position.

It’s a shame how a great company it used to come this state of affair . If it’s in J-p… GC and her gang of execs shd take a bow and resign . Likewise for D-mb Wood and cronies. A company with century of history crumbling down due to the Trojan introduced and implemented by current leadership . What a real shame !

More and more incidents happening in SGCX and management think it is because people are not focusing or not following procedures, or safety protocols.
Let me be honest.
Operator are seeking to flee away from this toxic environment, Maintenance folks are seeking external jobs as well, only have to rely on contractors to work on the actual site jobs, poor guys then got injured, are they be blame? He-l no.
EM management has to accept:

  1. If you want to cut manpower, more incidents sure happen, use your toe to think and you will know why.
  2. Want lower incident rate? Restore back the morale and assure people no PIP, hire enough people for correct amount of work.

Looking at their actions and conclusions on those incidents, Ivam very pessimistic about this year's safety performance and I start to worry about my personal safety while working in the plant. No one is safe here, if this continues, except for managers who only visit working site once a year.
Good luck folks, stay safe and healthy.

PIP PIP hurray! It’s going to be 8% PIP, which just means that there’s still a lot of unwanted headcount lying around. Attrition is clearly not a problem. Time to play squid game soon. Hope some of you have been carrying and massaging your bosses’ ba--s well to avoid being labeled NSI.

Folks , u really think the 8 to 10% pip is just lip service ? U trust that? It’s a way EM trying to put the foot at the door so that when it needs to cut , it can go by this avenue without compensation! This is the lesson learnt in the hard way by the organisation during the last retrenchment exercise. Company initially wanted to pip one batch of employees without retrenchment package but got shot by MOM when these pple complained to MOM. So now die die will make sure it has track record to show employees being piped … for those who are still in self denial … such is the type of company and leaders we are working for … u have yourself to blame if u continue to sign up for it . I just tendered yesterday , it felt so good to know that I take back control of my life and destiny .. it’s so liberating . Take care my comrades … will be friends still but not colleagues :)

“The higher you are, the less technical you're expected to be. The manager role is to manage the team.”
There is an important prerequisite for this statement: the managers really know what is going on on the ground level.

You stayed and got your hand dirty, know the basic staff, suffered in the tough times, honed your technical skills for many years and then you become a manger, you bring change to the organization based on your experience to make it more practical more efficient. Then, the above statement stays true.

The current situation in EM? The bloody 2-3 years fresh out of uni, thinking they are genuious and glorious, get selected to be a manager/supervisor? WTF do you expect them to know? They even donno how to properly speak to people with respect and dignity, they just want to "get things done" no matter what.
What can you expect from this type of managers? Their way of viewing the world is distorted thus they will never treat you in the normal way, because for them that is abnormal, okay?
They follow the master's instructions to PIP people, without ba--s to speak up because they really donno how to, so donnot blame your manager for PIPing you, because these are just bunch of jokers, especially the second lines and DHs.

Look like this is a Batman company -Gotham. Blind leaders leading the blind bats who are in self denial. With high oil price we tot this sinking ship is safe for now without recognising this will expedite G to diversify into alternative energies even faster. For most pple whereby this ship is the only ship you are familiar working on board , good luck. We will soon find that the skill set and competency acquired are not so transferable , after all trained to be generalist who are jack of all trades master of none….

The biggest problem I see is that there’s not a lot of future for Singaporean youngsters because Singapore is a training ground for the region, yet the regional opportunities are not available for Singaporeans. When questions on the future of Singapore get posted on slido, I haven’t heard any convincing answers other than your time will come. Which is not saying much about our futures. Thus, get out while you still can. All the best!

The higher you are, the less technical you're expected to be. The manager role is to manage the team. The team is supposed to be the SME not the manager. If you're unhappy with this dynamic, get better at networking and get yourself the managerial role. Being upset with your manager AND staying in his team gets you no where. It just proves the point that he is doing a fine job in managing his people. If you're good at your job, you won't have issues jumping ship anyway. Everyone likes to think they're better than their manager, the world will collapse when they leave. Why don't you prove it?

To be fair, management has made it clear that shareholders and management comittee compensation come first, employees are just dispensable tools to get to those means. I don’t know why there’s an uproar when senior management proves that they are willing to throw rank and file employees under the bus. Last I check, there’s still many people working hard and late nights for the corporation, so obviously, there’s still suckers for EM.

One of the flaws in EM presently is many of the managers do not have enough technical experience or knowledge to even provide guidance to engineers and staff on the ground. Many of the managers are simply good at compiling information that the people under them do for them, collate it and present to higher ups. This simple task can even be done by primary school students. FEI department one such department with very poor management structure and very poor leadership. Note to refinery managers to improve on this aspect. This is only good for the future of EM.

Thank you for confirming that this company is good at lying . Lying abt long term career to employees which In fact its core is “ hire and fire”. Similarly , its lie abt carbon emission? Can we now trust its commitment of CCS ? Emagine ? Its “promise” of employees first now ? Haha … so much abt integrity , honesty that I was sold fully sold into believing ….

The Execs are all in early or mid 50s , ready to retire … not keen to rock the boat , just resting on their ba--s ( I know many don’t have … just an analogy lah). Those below are either no ba--s to move out or are stuck… so end up having to stroke execs ‘ ba--s .. as for the younger ones who have ba--s are all moving out … what is the organisation looking like ? Old age home , will old folks or eunuchs . Wonder I did we get here ..:: sad

Don’t say until we blind as bat leh, most of them are in the 40-50 ranges, have housing loan, children still young, parents to take care, very high commitment etc etc. You think we like to sing along LPS/LPSA/OCVM? Everyday my secondary job is to carry ba--s, tickle ball, pressing ba--s and make sure they comfortable in order to avoid PIP. Joke aside, we are really cruising to sunset, with high oil price and will be driving us faster to endanger.
