Communication sessions are waste of time for everyone because all the true feedback are here already.

What do you mean by "These skills are needed to survive in ExxonMobil in the 21st Century" for the management?

I agree if you meant it is for the company to survive in 21st century, but not for anyone here to survive in this current environment created by the management.

The management is behaving the extreme opposite of the three criteria you mentioned. Try behaving the way you proposed, you are surely on your way out or managed-out. So everyone just do sunflower management.

To those snowflake SLSs that feel hurt (not all of course, so don't get hurt lol. Only you can tell who is and who is not), this is the real QnA or feedback that you have been seeking for. Don't keep complaining that you have no feedback to act on. Now, you please go back to work.

Lmao.

If you want to be in management in Singapore, learn these skills sooner than later. These skills are needed to survive in ExxonMobil in the 21st Century.

(1) The ability to sunset bad ideas quickly before we spend tens of millions of dollars on research only to put the bad idea on the shelf.

(2) Look outside before reinventing the wheel internally. If there was technology that we could buy or lease from a third party technology provider that we could commercialize in our corporation to make money, buy it. It costs too much money and time to develop "Me Too" processes.

(3) You must punch your ticket as a technical contributor in a group before you can manage the group.

Like it or not, pre calibration will always happen as nobody will ever play by the rules and go in the rank group evenly distributed. Every SLS have different benchmark of what good looks like. If you become an SLS you will understand the pain… don’t complain and carry on with your work..

Heard of groups still doing pre-calibration before PA even thou HR (through the e-learn) is advocating not to? How are the leaders leading by example in this area?

Still hoping? Better take charge of your own destiny.

Obviously the mgmt don't care. They are just making big bucks at your expense.
Bad time - individual contributors are the fats to be cut.
Now good time - all credit goes to the management and raise their pay first and big big raise too. When in fact, it is just luck due to global environment like war.

Still don't see it?

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/commentary/ceo-boardroom-salary-big-oil-exxon-shell-bp-3434451

“INEQUALITY BETWEEN BOARDROOM AND FACTORY FLOOR
The result is eye-popping inequality between the boardroom and the factory floor. According to a survey of 350 of the largest US quoted companies by the Economic Policy Institute, realised CEO pay, including proceeds from equity shares and stock options, rose 1,460 per cent from 1978 to 2021. This compares with 18 per cent growth in typical worker’s pay over the same period.

The same survey shows that the CEO-to-worker pay gap rose from 20 times in 1965 to 399 in 2021. Awards in the UK are less elevated but spectacular nonetheless. A joint High Pay Centre and TUC survey estimates that median FTSE 100 CEO pay in 2021 was 109 times that of the median full time worker, up from 79 times in 2020 and 107 times in 2019.

This inequality is demoralising for workforces and fosters the impression more widely that a tiny elite is grabbing a disproportionate share of the spoils of capitalism - a recipe for ever-increasing populism in politics.”

Ever Since Mr. Wood was the CEO, he only had one plan, and that plan has hit his target every single year, even during the covid period... Every one of us suffers from kana pay cut to kana PIP and even kana carry black pot and eventually lead to throw letter.

Only this a.s.sh.o.l.e, never kana PIP or anything, and his bank account has grown tremendously. His bank the growth rate is way higher than ExxonMobil company projected growth rate...

Leaders in SCP kept telling us NMPT that the company is not making money, but to me, we are making money, just that kana siphon to somebody's bank only ...

The profit sharing only happens to Mr. Wood, sad for the rest of us, we are not Mr. Wood, we are Mr. Grass...

when I am in Exxon, People always tell me the grass is always greener on the other side. now I finally understand why. It is because the grass in Exxon has been eaten until so clean, so clean until nothing is left because we in Exxon always eat grass.. on the other side of the fence, the employee are not required to eat any grass that is why there are plenty out there on the other side... So you all still wanna continue to eat grass?? hahas

sic sic sic... not everyone who stayed in this chat is still in EM... But everyone still came to this chat once in a while, is because they were not satisfied with the way how EM does things.

Mr Beh Kan, since you have nothing to complain and so eh Kan, why do you come to this chat in the first place? knowing that this chat's sole purpose was used to either complain or bad mouth about stuff?

Or you feel superior and just want to make yourself feel you are up there?

I wouldn't be sure that it's only project that will get NSI as all of us are ranked in different groups.

Likely the bosses will sacrifice the newcomers in each department and sell them a story that they are still new and need time to prove themselves. Easy way out for the bosses.

don't worry, the guys who are gonna get NSI are those in any project team. Be it global or local projects. We at base gonna survive another year.

When your engineer made a significant mistake, breathe a sign of relieve that you have someone to NSI this coming ranking.

Typically u can leave it to the engineer to follow up if it is a genuine mistake. But normally the person who make the mistake might shape the incident in another way. Hence the lead engineer comes in. If u are the lead engineer and shape the incident as well. Might as well leave it to the SLS. So it depends on which context u are looking at

Hi, what is the role and responsibility of a lead engineer? If my engineer made a significant mistake, can I just leave her to handle the follow ups?

Post ID: @fkgel+16zEvLP3

Of course! Anything can blame NMPT they will blame one, why MPT needs to get the blame, job NMPT do, blame will naturally go to NMPT, only credit will goes to who? Our beloved MPT, all the sh-t that NMPT do will help to lifted MPT… to them we are insect, not significant, all they need to do is maintain their KPI that is all…

They will pretend to care for ur wellbeing.. pretend to be interested for your progress… but again u need to do more to get progress, if you over do something goes wrong, you are starting from zero again… for MPT they will be promoted and move to other place… don’t be a m.o.r.o.n.s la.. since when your progress is important to them? What is important is you must do more and give in your best, best is not enough very best, best until u got no time to rest that is the best….

You guys agree or not😂 ?pui farking EM

No matter what
End of the day its still the NMPT the blue collar worker bees are the one to blame the one to be blamed the one gets blamed and get punished
Why....becoz we still dunno how to talk like mgmt act like mgmt

Mgmt are all special breeds experts in talking bullsh-t ocvm lpsa lpo li nli impact bla bla bla until incidents also scared of them lah
Becoz they are all expert in all these bullsh-t useless talk thats why got plenty so much time going around offices and plant to harrass the worker bees with bullsh-t talk and question

nothing wrong for ES engineers to quit la. They are highly sought after, look at the few experienced engineers who left, they are doing so well. Look at the previous DH, most of them are doing what they do best outside. Good luck everyone, stay safe

Don’t be surprised if more engineers resign.
I saw one section, 80% of engineers are less than 2 years experience. Some are auto promoted to lead without having much experience.

I saw some of ES engineers’ LinkedIn profile, some hold degree (2 years course) from overseas university. I don’t generalise everyone of them is bad. But you can observe their technical skill in the meeting and there are a lot of silly mistakes made by them.

We used to have those professional engineers execute project. Now, what kind of incidents we saw recently in the plant? How many % of reputable university graduates in ES section, may be less than 30%.

When management fails, even MNC company become like local marine shipyard company’s standard, only can hire those third tier draftsman to become engineers.

Same job same major repair but was given 1 mth time frame the last time
Now the same job same major repair after careful considerations and assessment by Craft request for 2 weeks time frame
Worse mgmt say NO not practical not fast enough 2 weeks too slow
Now the same job major repair is only given 10 farking days to complete and get the farking machine running
And mind you workscope and workload the same but the manpower was heavily reduced and discounted to get the same output and result

This is what is farking happening in farking em

You can always stop the work when you feel unsafe.
This is only the first part of the statement. Tbe complete statement is:
You can always stop the work when you feel unsafe, but you have to finish the work on target on time, no matter what. We don't give a fxxk if you are safe, just get the fxxking work done.

Actually this kind of scenario has been happening for quite sometime, they always say can talk to your supervisor about work load high and etc. But if you believe that your FLS and MC are very knowledgeable and they know what is happening on the ground, you can flag out the issue… The problem now with EM is there are too many Mo--ns who are incompetent, then they cannot gauge how long would be need for task… Then they promised higher up and set targets that cannot be achieved… higher up press them they cannot answer because of competency issue… that leads to a lot of rushing works need to be done…

If your MPT are mo--ns, sad to say you only can suck it up.. Even you tried your best to explain and try to be very positive about it, nothing can change, because they cannot answer to their higher up why they even agree to perform this task in the first place…

If whatever I said is rubbish means you are lucky and plz don’t leave that BU.. if whatever I had said resonated with you it means things are going down hill

One of the colleagues accidentally trip an equipment because everyone was rushing her to complete the job before end of the day. To be honest, I don’t really blame her. They always say we can say no if we feel unsafe to continue but we will be regarded as the show stopper if we say so. How?
