Singapore study is nothing new, they have been studying singapore so hard, like wanna come out ten years series exam question out from this studies… As farmers , I don’t get choose the weather and climate , but I can control how much seed I intending to plant(effort). I also give myself a chance to explore different environment(change company)

Knowing that my sc--w up (open to work banner) linkedin boss will su-k me dry, I will just perform good enough to be average. Why do so much? The company don’t owe me and my name is not called D W anyway…

Better look for job. Too many new petchem in China and saudi. Already big projects get cancelled here. Big plant going to shutdown. Plant your escape. No one is safe, this is going to be Singapore study round 2 after crispy. Don’t forget all the expats from China and crispy that we need to absorb. Not so crispy afterall

why the f you think the company owes you anything? in this era who the he-l stays in one company. it would be a joke. leave if you think your next role is bullsh-t. leave if you think you can earn more. don't leave if you think you still can benefits from the company. exxonmobil is a business. they have plans for everyone but if the business doesn't go well. they don't care about you anymore. it's called business. why you all still want the company to answer you and to give you the world? find your own world leh!! stay if it benefits you. leave if it doesn't!

Not only ES engineers faces the fear of being layoff, I think it can be anyone e.g process technician who work for more than 5 yrs..

The company has changed, being loyalty to a company does not mean that you will not get fired from the company…

Cut yourself some slack… Is okay not to deliver some of the things on time….

Think about your own self being, can do then do cannot just say cannot… just let it fall..

Even if u do or not management will still blame u for tons of other stuff.. am I wrong to say that?

I am an engineer with close to 5 years of experience and I don’t think I can have a long term career with the company. Ask any ES engineer and they will tell you the psychological fear of working in the company right now with the opacity of the reorganisation

Sooner or later this SGCX FarmVille will goes to extinction like Jurassic park you see in the movie. Growth project kept getting start stop start and stop, giving us loads of rubbish amount of workload, kept asking us to give our 110% and kept thinking of way to squeeze us dry…knn

Your superior kept telling u this and that need to improve before you can promote . Outside afterwork, they also begins to spread their seeds outside, linkedin profile picture all have the “open to work slogan”, mass spam

You Chiong and do until die, you are just increasing your chance to get a warning letter. why? Because you must have cut a lot of corners to deliver things at god speed, despite of that your boss might say it is not fast enough or it is not good enough and etc.... and loads of bulls...

while Exxon is cutting Headcount, all the work from the previous headcount were landed on the shoulder on the current headcount. The ground staff running the ops were overwork, as more and more competent people were leaving the work place.

The organisation knows that we are understaff, the ground staff were just one of the number that appears in the spreadsheet or dashboard on the screen for the god of Exxon to see. They are consistently thinking of ways to cut manpower at the same time balancing the safety records, as long as nothing big happens that will disrupt the money making opportunities , the gods will continue to cut manpower. why ? Because the dash board and spreadsheet numbers allows them to do so. Cutting manpower increases the price of share price directly increasing their pocket money why not?

Then the poor ground staff were the one getting all the loads of bulls e.g. PIP or warning letter because of overwork and understaff issues.. so there will be a point even the most hard working and diligent people will get warning letter it is normal.

why work hard? Just farm lo... everyday go to work just hor hor hor... the way through... life will be easier... no need to think so hard or try to be a thinking worker for Exxon like thinking to cut corner this and that. Just follow the god Damme procedure... Don't change the procedure, if the procedure say need 2 people means need 2 people and check until you are happy then go to the next step...

Exxon always say they don't care about profitability they only care about safety which is kind of bull sh-t to me.. Increasing the amount of documentation needed before performing task with lesser amount of people doing it?

We also have middle level management who are super unrealistic with their planning in terms of time line, either they don't know how to answer their boss why they need buffer or they don't know what they are doing. That will cause workload to pile up from non critical to super critical because of their inability to judge or it can be lacking of manpower to perform the task.

NO RUSH !! BUT IT IS URGENT or NEED TO GET IT UP NOW!!! CULTURE....

I love to work in Exxon not because I will learn working skill. I love to work in Exxon because I can learn from my supervisor or manager how to play politics, how to gas light people, learn how to act, learn how to collect data while experimenting using other people rice bowl, learn how to blame people when things goes south and learn how to increase MY OWN PAY ONLY while cutting every single one of them down...

We hire "top performers" and then start telling them they aren't the best. As we have reduced HC, the buckets have gotten way tougher. Those in NI are frequently decent employees who just need a bit more oversight, so it's hard to deliver a VG / G / NI message to all but a few - they are all meeting or exceeding job expectations. And E's are amazing folks so it's a personal disappointment for many to not be the best of the best. (Interesting observation, many folks get upset they are only O and not OwD.)

The question you should ask yourself is whether are you overload? if the answer is yes and your management kept adding work to your pile, it is a classic example of setting up for people to fail....
