Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Jump before the ship goes down

Verizon was good to me! I rode the waves and drank the koolaid for along time.

I enjoyed working in my business unit and the people I worked with. I didn’t want to leave. Since we purchased the full stake in our company from Vodafone things haven’t been the same. Reorganize and lay-off, and repeat. It became a fear culture of what store was going to close or where the axe would start swinging next. It shouldn’t be that way.

I lost confidence in senior leaderships ability to make the right choice. I realize we have shareholders and commitments to reach. This is capitalism, but it doesn’t mean capitalizing off the backs of frontline and taking money and jobs from good people.

Talent isn’t always replaceable.

Reaching goals can be done by being innovative and finding new markets to play in, not by taking money or jobs from people. If that is your approach, than you are lazy and you are predicting your own demise.

Wishing everyone well!

Yes 3zbg. We are headed to a dystopian corporate ran society. Where government will openly sell the nation to be governed by Corpo empires. It will be a high tech low life society. The middle class will be wiped off the face of the filthy earth. This is an origin story of things to come..

  • Talent isn’t always replaceable......

It's not talent they are trying to replace. If they wanted to retain talent they would not have offered the VSP. They are replacing costs. High earners with low earners (foreign or college grads). Pension eligible with non-pension eligible. It's all about costs. I suspect in the not too distant future there will be no longer be a middle class. We'll have the 1% and the working poor. Once that happens, there is no one left to buy the products and services that these companies produce.

Fairly certain this post will be removed. The company has an political agenda which doesn’t include Americans. Not race religion s-xual preference but anti America.

I was a GM at Radio Shack in the 2000's, this feels like Radioshack all over, don't think Verizon will ever go under though.

Really, who is even using Verizon services now that we're all working at home using the cable wifi. Not mobile, don't need mobile phones.
