Be prepare, lay-off is done yet, round two coming up next week.
OMCS a US production manager got let go. The new logos are too small and cheap to pay for the big customers leaving
Loyalty should work both ways.
Re: OMCS — sorry to hear that but I can’t say I’m surprised. It always seemed too complex, too fragile, and too expensive (which says nothing to how tough it had to be for us to operate). No doubt many other cloud services will follow suit.
Anyone have any counts?
OMCS took a beating. We lost most all of our network engineers, SAs and more. Entire teams at DCs wiped out. I feel bad for the people left behind as I can't imagine how they're going to manage everything.
I am from ACS got lay off on 8/18. Begin a new life.
Bloodbath in OCI-Cloud Ops Advanced Monitoring as well. Closed down Reston ControlCenter and some UK folks
I know a few directors and engineers from Oracle US OMCS/ACS are gone today.
Just like Glengarry Glen Ross
I heard that in sales/marketing that there are rolling layoffs every month for their org. Nothing like looking behind your back every now and then to see if you will still be employed by the end of the day. Sad.
Has anyone heard of sales people will be let go as well?
That has already been confirmed on this site, but don’t worry because oracle cloud sells itself.
HTH
Has anyone heard of sales people will be let go as well?
Yeah I would be 14 years near the end of September (next month) and I was let go. Technical PM that was trying to turn Cloud Architect...but my time expired. The amount of work hasn't changed so maybe it's worse for those staying. OK...so now what?
Heard about some directors. Not yet VPs. Being remote, it's hard to get all the information.
Confirmed L5 in another org having been laid off today.
It's sad to see more people being RIF'ed during these difficult times. I wish everyone leaving all the best, and good luck to those who are still here too.
It would be good to learn about specific roles or teams that are on the chopping board. I am not sure how broad or deep today's cuts are. Anyone heard of L5 and above leaving?
Day before my 18 year anniversary.
Oh well! It was a great run while it lasted.
I was the sole person in charge of two major applications groups admin and developer.
OIT under Cs was hit pretty widely - many PMs let go; lots of SME's with 20+ years of knowledge
automation that was built will prove that OIT will be MGMT headcount only as another poster indicated, Engineers are replaceable
Count me in the mix of OIT that was cut. S—s.
Me too. 20 years between Sun/Oracle. True bloodbath today.
I don't know anyone that worked in OIT; That provided local office field engineer support that survived. There are no field engineers working on the east coast or central US anymore. maybe where they have a techbar. But other than that. They are all gone. You are on your own or you have to go through the helpdesk out of Romania or Mexico. some Orgs were informed that they no longer will receive IT support. They have to handle it themselves.
I was one. 15 years between Sun/Oracle. Looking forward to whats next.
