Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Fran and Chuck laugh at layoffs

I'm really blown away at the "Leadership" team laughing at future layoffs, now with the Check-in replay online re watched that again and wow, he sure can laugh with the golden parachute attached "let's see if I buy a yacht or a third country house" just kidding! I'm not firing myself :)

On the other side with a small kid to support and a mortage on my back that announcement gave me the chills, but that does not matter since I'm not part of the ELT so it's ok. I can get the layoffs, it's a business and it needs to maintain profits.

Laughting at future layoffs it's just Cruel. Even if I'm not affected I'm starting to ramp up my job search since today and plan to move elsewhere in the near future.

I loved my job at WebEX before we got adquired by Cisco. This could be good, they can't mess this up... and they sure messed that up big time, even I use zoom for personal reasons having unlimited WebEX but bad business decisions is one thing.

That laugh is just too much I'm off as soon as I can and I know several more on the same train. Good time to sell stocks since they are soon going to tank after a lot of the real talents go look elsewhere :)

They fired people for commenting about BLM when they disagreed with the comments and now laugh at the upcoming layoffs of over 7000 people. Just sick.

"Oh child, so naive. You really believe that the masters’ tools will work to dismantle the masters’ houses?"

I should have added employment hierarchy won't change in our employment life time, if you are 40+ & over (sorry!). Evolution is a process and takes time. But no doubt employment will evolve much like everything else.

Fran and Chuck: “Ok, would you like to be executed Right Now (because you’ve earned it and you’re too old”) or would you like us to chop off %20 of your foot so you can limp along for now, or would you like to drink this poison, I mean “option 3” and die a slow painful death but make sure it’s by Q2. Let us know in two weeks what works “best” for you.”

The folks that made the decisions that led to the crisis, and the folks that are terminating employees do not get the benefit of "levity during times of crisis". Gallows humor is reserved for those being executed, not for those doing the executing. They don't get to laugh to make themselves feel better about destroying lives.

Time to get out of Cisco. It has become a sick, twisted virtue signaling powerpoint farm. Knowing how it operates, would you invest money to buy the stock? If no, then you should stop investing your time in it.

One positive outcome of this pandemic can be the change in the employment hierarchy. It can address the income disparity but increase true productivity and cost reduction.

Cisco is so big it is like a microcosm of a country's class and government system. Interesting what is happening.

As Pink Floyd said: "Mother, should I trust the government".

Tone deaf for sure. I was in shock when I saw it. Don’t be so proud about the innovative WFR when 70,000 workers are shaking in their boots about being jobless in the midst of a pandemic/recession. Also show some share of responsibility for not managing the company well enough to avoid this terrible outcome. I am genuinely disappointed.

"Be happy, you get to pick how you're fired, yaaaaay!!!"

That’s why they are all chortling to themselves. “Fran has a brilliant idea! We don’t have to fire anybody, we’re going to get the proles to fire themselves!!! Brilliant, pass the claret!”

times are tough... everyone gets that but the chuckles while employees are reeling abt this plan and the personal impact it will have was completely out of touch. sad that this is what we have come too.

One positive outcome of this pandemic can be the change in the employment hierarchy. It can address the income disparity but increase true productivity and cost reduction. Many of the corporate leaders and senior managers are just talking heads. Their subordinates do all the work. No doubt this will change but is up to the millennials and genZ to take real actions.

It is pretty disappointing. Every thing is all buddy buddy in those check-ins like we are supposed to be friends but it is all so uncomfortable to watch. The Fran and Chuck show. If I have to hear reference to conscious culture one more time, it will be one too many. ...and the running comments by the lemmings, oh man....

It is a considerate plan to reduce opex but the ELT is like a mutually inclusive and sycophantic leadership club .... that takes zero accountability or responsibility for bad decisions that have been made. I wonder what the saving would be if the ELT cancelled all of their outstanding RSU’s? Anyone know?

Also Fran specifically called out the comment about her guffaws re: the proletariat, and then proceeded with an un-apology for her "levity during times of crisis" .

Indeed. Let them eat cake?

It was an embarrassing moment not only for them but for cisco shareholders who allow it to continue,
It shows how disconnected the company leadership is from their workerforce

I don't think you understand how much money is included in the ER or in the LR is there aren't enough in the first 3 phases. They also could have said here's your pink slip good luck finding a job.

Yes, it was frustrating to see such a happy face, smiles and jokes. We know they aren't worried about their jobs right now. "Be happy, you get to pick how you're fired, yaaaaay!!!"
