I'd give anything to leave this hellhole with a severance - even if it's not that much. Even if it's just enough to last me until I find a new job. What I'm scared of is being fired - and I see more and more of that each day. They're too stingy to even offer us a severance and have started firing people for smallest things. Honestly, for me being laid off would be a happy occasion.

When chukkie talks about "risk free" cost reductions, hes saying no severance and low chance of lawsuits.

3 options...
- Quit WF and join a new company: becoming a new hire and potentially the first person to be laid off in the new company in the last in first out model during this covid19 economy.
- Fired by WF: May be no unemployment and no severance package.
- Wait for layoff: Severance package but no ETA.
Go Figure. If you ask me, I'd rather getting laid off from WF then join another new company as a new hire.

I believe what @OP was saying since neither getting laid off nor getting fired is by one's own choice, getting laid off is the lesser of the two evils.
No one should be wanting to be laid off in the COVID economy. Foolish.
