Great information on this thread. Thank you. I'm afraid that it will come in handy.
In Texas if you are WFR'd you get 25 weeks of unemployment. The federal government has extended that to 39 weeks due to covid-19. That is if you are WFR'd due to covid-19. The employer that WFR'd (HPE) you and the state you live in foot this bill. If your layoff is not covid-19 related then you only receive the standard 25 weeks and may not get the additional $400 now, was $600, stipend. HPE knows this and through us all under the bus. Thanks again Antonio!
I can confirm that. In their FAQ for WFR, it says,
"Q: Is my employment being terminated because of COVID-19
A: We continue to optimize our business with the previously announced restructuring. We have not announced any measures related to COVID-19 impact."
- which is pretty ridiculous. Something tells me that this is just an answer to preserve whatever investors they may have left. I mean, of course HPE is impacted by COVID.
I got 11 weeks of severance. The TWC will not pay me unemployment. Will I be eligible for unemployment after 11 weeks? If so for how long? Due to the pandemic and my age it looks like I may be unemployed for some time. I am in Texas.

Supply chain for HPE has been crippled. Is Covid-19 related but hey they make up their own BS as they go.
So not only did HPE lay you off during a pandemic. They (HPE) consulted their accountants and lawyers to make sure you bore most of the impact. 25 weeks vs 39 weeks of unemployment. Another slap in the face by HPE execs. Thanks Antonio!
