Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Be careful jumping ship to CS

For those that are considering a jump to Columbia, be mindful that it’s a mini version of Nike. To get ahead at Columbia you literally become a child and a tattle tale, not kidding. It’s all the politics with none of the perks and they quietly lay-off all the time buts stay below the WARN trigger.

When I got out of footwear and apparel and into companies that make things that actually matter I was surprised how satisfying of a feeling it gave me. There doesn’t seem to be all the nonsense and pronoun c-ap when what you do feeds or protects people.

Just a thought.

how many messages do we have on CS's board here on layoffs.com?

a handful.

there must be 1000s of messages on nike's board, all posted during last three years.

so, something went horribly bad here.

@sbv - all good points. Drama is everywhere. Nike is more politically complex than other places, and this is simply due to it's size. Also, given the amount of revenue and money that can be distributed to employees, Nike is different - stakes are a bit higher here so there is more elbowing and back-stabbing in the race to succeed (and get the piece of the pie). That's just my two cents...

I’ve worked at a few brands, and it’s all the same with layoffs. Doesn’t matter if it’s public or private, and drama abounds everywhere.

For those leaving comments about how life after Nike is so much better, I’m curious... are you still in the sporting goods industry? And if so, what brands are immune from the layoffs and drama?

It's an American corporate culture thing! Switch to a company in Europe and you'll be much happier!

7 years spent at cs - mostly positive experience... some backstabbing... 5 years at nike - still here - last 24 months were somewhat rough and it looks like it is getting worse. What to do..

Preach! People drown in the Nike kool-aid and will sacrifice everything else in its name. There is a world outside of Nike out there, everyone. There are places elsewhere that need and will value your talent.
