The point here is that he is not punished by the market for having layoffs on his watch. He is instead rewarded. He is named most influential. He is lauded, praised. Layoffs should be seen as failure of management, because they are. HPE management screwed up again. It is sad.
Not much he can do given the situation. Just keep it afloat and sell it off.
