Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell Field Service HPS LSS

Recently laid off after 35+ years in field service. Just got a phone call and I was done. Wanted us to train TSP guy's to take over our sites. (our competition) Honeywell is currently running a test in southeast area to have TSP take over as we are going to be a software company and do remote service. (Good Luck with that). If you are in field service in other parts of the country get ready. No explanation, direction or communication from upper management at all. (MSO level). Total lack of leadership for years has brought us to this point. Wishing all field service guy's the best, but plan for the worst it's coming soon.

Honeywell did the same thing in Northern Wisconsin. Quit hiring directly and brought in TSP or whatever name they go by now. I was told to train the techs and shut up about it. I refused. Destroyed the service reputation at most mills in the area. Constant complaints on them not being able to fix anything and they refuse to come in on calls stating, "we'll take care of it in the morning". ABB has taken over most of the old Honeywell service contracts in the area as they, atleast, have training available. Honeywell is happy as they are now getting their 40% plus profits right off the top on the few mills left with service contracts. They refuse to believe the customers are not happy. Some of the guys Honeywell contracted had backgrounds in printer repair or some such nonsense, yet told the mills that they are fully trained field service engineers. One mill has gone through 8 (at last count) of these clowns in 3 years. Way to go Honeywell. Glad I am out.....

TSP is a Mom and Pop shop out of Texas who gets in bed with someone from a support org IE (NetApp) Someone gets kickbacks from the company doing the outsourcing. Than Tsp sends there guys onsite pretending to be a engineer when in all reality these guys are baggage Handlers at the airport or Field Medic-a in the Army and want you to dump your years of knowledge in these guys laps and if you don’t play nice they’ll threaten you with holding back your layoff package. It’s f—ed yo I’ve been through a TSP takeover and it s—s. But wait for the vest part they’ll offer you your old job back at a 20-30% Cut and what ever the offer you accept at TSP they don’t believe in yearly raises or cost of living increases. They TSP S—!!!!
