Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Application Development Engineer.. not qualified

i Referred a very competent friend of mine for an open position Dev/Ops at JP. Instead of focusing on his skills , he was deemed not qualified by the Recruiter.
I argue that it’s time to focus on closing the opportunity gap, not only for the benefit of individuals who have been shut out of the labor market, but for society as a whole. Cultivating and investing in USA diverse talent can unleash regional innovation, economic growth, and community well-being, something is lacking in our hub, maybe not many people had notice that Americas are now a minority at JP Morgan technology, very sad and discouraging.

I my department the managers are openly biased - against men and people with white skin. They are promoting the personal belief that all white people are racially biased. Sending out invitations to take classes to help discover how much of a racist you are. The are openly admitting that skin color and gender are more important when hiring than the experience of the applicant. Someone is going to sue Chase for this blatant discrimation against protected classes and extract a large sum of money from these id–ts. It appears to me that many of the managers do not believe in this agenda, but they are being incentived to promote it.

I find it hard to believe that there aren't any Americans, students or otherwise, qualified for IT positions. If you're over a certain age in IT the financial industry will lay you off and replace you with H1B because of your salary.
Check Wells, Bnym, etc. Sign of the times...

is your friend Black or Hispanic?
I am a technologist and 85% of the people here can"t speak english, woukd that be a reason to be unqualified in United States?
JP has a very poor track records on racial and gender diversity And I suggest there is more to this problem. Black and latino make up only 12% of the technology workforce here.
failing to find and retain qualified talent that already exists due to narrow hiring pipelines, biased and discriminatory hiring practices, an overreliance on exclusive social networks, and inadequate support for underrepresented talent once they are on the job..I see this behaviour EVERY day inflicted by out Indian VP, hiring only Indian contractors in our US campus.
