Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

This is a performance reduction and not lay offs

There were not thousands laid off - there were layoffs based on performance reviews and under-performing employees were let go. These employees were scheduled to be laid off right as the pandemic started but company decided to allow them to stay because of the number of people from other companies who were laid off. The company asked higher paid salaried employees to take a pay cut to allow the company to avoid layoffs at that time. These pay cuts have been reversed as of September 4th. This is a performance reduction and not lay offs

As far as I know, the basis of this post is a LIE! I just got RIF'd on 10/1/2020, and was told this was purely a cost savings cut and NOT related to job performance at all! I had not even received any performance review this year and was told my performance was very good. The project I had been brought on board for was cancelled partially because of Covid-19. So although I had been moved into another valuable role, I guess they figured I was the most expendable.

Like I said.... It's all about hiring "cheap" college grads from across the street. These are words that have been quoted several times from upper management.

"The management did not ASK the employees to take a pay cut; they simply made the cut. The use of the "ask" terminology is deceptive."

TRUE.

As far as I can see, the reductions had nothing to do with employee performance; it was solely about replacing expensive people with cheaper people. This is the company's goal.

False. They rate on a bell curve and some people have to be rated lower even if they are doing a good job. Don’t be fooled. It is all about hiring college students who they can “mold” (their words) and can pay a lot less then the experienced employees that they laid off. All the people I know who were let go had higher grades.

“One weeks pay in Serbia is one days paid in USA.”

This company is an embarrassment to the tech community. The old leadership would have never approached business in this manner.

The Serbian president said that he was “pleased that the Belgrade campus will be bigger than the one in Atlanta.”

“NCR has hired 3,135 people so far and will hire additional 1,000 who to work at the campus,” Vucic said and added that Serbia backed the project with EUR 14 million.

The president also said that this investment showed that the relations between Serbia and the US can be “incomparably better.”

Hayford went on to say that NCR was investing in Serbia because of the good investment climate and an excellent workforce.

He added that NCR had more employees in Serbia than anywhere else in the world, including its home campus in Atlanta, and that Serbian employees have “energy, commitment and an excellent work ethic.”

Google Serbia ncr and look at some news there and see why . One weeks pay in Serbia is one days paid in USA

Post ID: @4Jhfx+125xrop7 Is correct. CEO confirmed this on All Hands call today. Reductions were performance related that were to occur at the beginning of the year, but delayed due to COVID. However, overwhelming message from executive team was more ‘cost measures’ are coming this year and into 2021

True: salary reductions for higher paid employees.

False: Performance related, as reviews have not yet happened. I am currently employed at NCR. It’s all about hiring cheap labor from across the street, and outsourcing jobs.
