Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Advice

I have a leader, 2 positions up on me, who is just terrible. Extremely unpleasant, rude, treats us like peons, not collaborative, and just barks out orders endlessly.

This "leader" has only been at Enbridge for about 1 year and was directly brought in by her VP. Their background is with GE and they're management style, "the GE way" does not align with Enbridge's style or core values at all. So many examples I could give of demeaning actions towards me and others that just leaves one feeling totally demotivated and questioning one's capabilities. Never had issues with any other leader, over 10 years here, and always received high performance rankings. Gotten to the point where I dread logging in and kicking myself for not taking VMO.

Nothing she does is necessarily unethical so I'm not sure what course of action I could take. HR I've heard is useless and blackballs you if you complain. Ethics & Compliance? Going to her leader is not an option.

Appreciate any advice.

She is probably just making you work and be accountable for the first time in your career. There is and has always been a lack of effort and accountability at Enbridge. Plus a huge sense of entitlement.

Work hard like you should. Put in a full 8 hours everyday and it will all be fine.

Or quit and take the government assistance. Be grateful for the opportunity to have a great job during these times.

There is no hope for this boss to change if they came from the GE culture. If they got trained under Sigma Six ( which Jack We!ch??, CEO long ago made their corp.religion) the person is now hard wired in a sad way. Perfection level 99.9996% is the goal, Really Realistic.

"Six Sigma at many organizations simply means a measure of quality that strives for near perfection. It can be called “Six Sigma,” or it may have a generic or customized name for the organization like “Operational Excellence,” “Zero Defects,” or “Customer Perfection.”

If this is the case,.as mentioned beore, if you stay in that department, you'll just have to suffer and wait it out. These people usually get let go after someone finally notices everyone in the department wants to transfer or quits. OR IF THIS IS THE COMPANY'S GOAL = to get everyone to quit, they will be promoted or get moved to another area that "needs cleaning up".

That's a tough situation to be in, your best option is to find a new job where you'll be treated better. This may be more successful than trying to remove a poor leader. I don't know your personal profile but if you're one of the top employees at enbridge in terms of skills, knowledge, and ability then you would be welcome in Infrastructure Planning for sure. We are always looking for the brightest talent that Enbridge has to offer, as we need the best resources to continue to be the driving force behind the company's ascent into unparalled success going forward.

Don't go to HR. They will kick you to the curb before they will admit the mistake of hiring a terrible employee brought in by a top manager. You can post it on Glassdoor for now (but you cannot name names) and describe just enough for the remarks to hit home. You can also complain about HR on Glassdoor as well. If enough Glassdoor readers agree with you (note the 'Useful' box), it will get some attention. In the meantime, look for a new job.

You are in a tough situation, there is very little you can do here.

You can mentally try to accept the new person, go into the situation with positive mind and thinking that she has a positive intent. That's hard.

Being introspective and looking at things you can to change also sometimes helps.

Folks like this usually do not last long, things catch up with them - you may decide to just be patient.

Finally, you can open up an anon account on google and send anon messages to her bosses and HR and her - try to document things but be careful not to point to your self. Alternatively, you can print all of this and slide it under bosses' doors.

You can go Machiavellian and try come across as her friend and use that to work agains her.

I can go on... but you get the point - be smarter than her, be more patient than her, and work on it...

Good luck...

Try to move to another dept
GE is a loser company, you can see it by their stock price.
The other option is to write an anonymous letter to up top, but I suggest to do it later.
Record the barking and accumulate evidence
