I work in West Comton for UP and it is rumored that the hump will shut down and flat switching will take over. Also rumored is city of Industry intermodal will close.
What other company let's go their so called essential employees at the rate Union Pacific is, turns out we were expendable, not essential. UPRR is definitely trying to defend their title as "WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR"
I heard it was 135 Managers - Harriman - Customer Care - and recruiting
North Platte with east hump closing but so lucky again got away with no layoffs this round. We are busy as always and remain positive will have no layoffs anymore to be end the year with great numbers and safety. Thanks to our strong union and support we stay strong. 2021 here we come
Bottom level and mid level management will be taking a hit, also dispatchers and a few more hump yards will be shut down permanently. West Colton is rumored to be one of them. Only time will tell, good luck to everyone in there new job search.
As many as it takes so they can get to 55%. That's what the shareholders want to see. The CEO and COO will see a large bonus at the end.
Union Pacific is changing its operations through an effort called “precision scheduled railroading,” which involves running trains faster and more efficiently. LOL!
