Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

No reason for them at all

In this new pay model, SMs, DMs and Directors have just been made obsolete - as if they weren't before. No reason for them at all. GMs can work with a couple of Lead Reps, HR, Trainers, & Operations and accomplish everything needed to operate a Retail Store given this new structure and roll directly to Retail VPs. Other companies operate that way. There is zero reason to keep all of those layers of management on the payrolls. Do us all a favor and get rid of the DMs and Directors. All they do is deliver beatdowns for Touch Less metrics, ARD, and Insurance and those beatdowns were all suppose to be gone with One Team structure and "new method of coaching," so they are NOT practicing the new model/method.

I don't think you get it.. the plan is no corporate employee is needed in the retail side. Converting to an indirect model like T-Mobile because that's all Verizon does his copy T-Mobile. The corporate retail side will be cut down to almost nothing. A few express stores throughout the country. Has anyone seen how bad Verizon is doing in customer retention? Just look at the Port ratios. The arrogance of the network. The horrible 5G rollout. The non competitive price points.

We obviously know they aren’t going to cut GM and above, at least not fully....

So if your a rep and your working harder and earning less... Why not become a GM and get paid more to do less? I mean at the end of the day it’s not the GMs fault they get paid more to do less. Conference calls and driving numbers is kinda what’s expected of them. Most gms make above 75k anyway. Get that easy money. It’s incredibly hard to get fired as a GM too so you can do just bare minimum to keep your job

One problem, that would imply a gm does something. GM is one of the most worthless roles in the company. It’s the beginning of “earn more do less positions”

They would be lost without their desk to sit behind and an SM to boss around. All they do is fraternize, take conference calls, talk about “Culture and Purpose” and take up payroll space.
