Kids are grown, things are sorta smooth...Stop worrying, take the package. Maybe a few like their job, but most do not. Get out, take your life in your hands and start steering, there are new horizons, change everything, expect nothing, live again.
The job pays well, has benefits, and offers quite a bit in those aspects, all designed for you to be able to leave. So leave. You‘ve earned it. The $ you worry about isn’t worth the worry, or the money. You need less than you think to still live well. Trust me. Been there. Was scared to leave, and now realize the fear was not very realistic in any way. You’ll be fine. I hope you are. You’re all pretty smart people. Trust yourselves, cause no harm, and good luck to you all, even the haters There is no hate in retirement

Sounds like I know some of the people here. Well you know if your close they well push you out one way or another. I hope they do another vsp for you guys. It’s horrible how they completely disregard decades of sacrifice and service to blindly walk people out the door.
Don't be jealous, you might get to retire one day too. Maybe.... If you're lucky.
I too will stick around, unless of course we are presented with a generous package, or they decide to change things around that will effect my current position. We all know how it goes, you are put into a group that works for you, get comfortable and then your moved into general population, the Fios group. #flaggerforlife....
The thing is, I don't want to get another job....in 150 weeks or so, I would like to see a generous package, so I can take it and be done working completely. I want to sleep late, and by late I mean 9am, and only do things I want to do. So I'll be sticking it out til 23. After working all this time, I deserve a life of leisure.
Dec '18 VSPer from the wireless side. I took the buyout nowhere near retirement (only 7 years) but the signs were clear that there was no future for me there. Also, the economy was hot then so as the other poster stated, Verizon experience pays. After taking several months off, I was brought onto a new network team with an org with great people. Benefits are actually better and my pay is $20K more per year.
It's true that other companies do want Verizon's people. But I don't know what I'd decide now given how crazy 2020 has been.
Jumps often don't end well.
June VSPer here with 25+ years of VZ service. Still on the VZ benefits payroll. Best decision ever! Took a 6 month sabbatical away from wireless and enjoyed life. Came back into the Wireless workforce and found a job paying even more than VZ within 2 weeks (VZ experience pays). Working for a great company with no fighting among work groups and best of all, no 60hr+ weeks. I have work/life balance now! There is life out there, you just need to have the courage and belief in yourself to jump.
Sounds like a management post, don’t drink the koolaid.
Totally 100% agree, 2 brothers who waited for the package in my garage died waiting .
Enjoy life - don't wait for a package that's not coming.
Yup. Retirement is approaching. Package or not.
I have 352 days left....package or not I’m out
I appreciate your post, the situation you’ve described is mine and I’m prepared to start my post-VZ life. Really hoping packages are in the works. I can’t tell what is real and what is BS on this site.
And here I thought Mr. Rogers was deceased.
