Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

In my new company.

I left my club during the big shut down, and have been so much happier. That was just over 2 yrs ago. This week I got my 2nd 5% raise. I am officially now making more money than I did being a fresh lead, and minus the stress. You guys don't have to put up with the BS of Sam's. Just wanted to pass along a little positive story to hopefully motivate some of you. You can do it!!

Been with Sam's club for 5 years and am so disappointed with how things have changed. Cashiers certainly are not valued or we would have been included in the pay increase that many others received last year. When I started, the COS position only made 50 cents more/hr than a cashier. They now are making $18.00/hr while we get our measly 25 cent increase for a total of 11.44/hr to bust our buts; especially during this pandemic. There are other employers out there who seem to value their employees much more, and I must say I am in that hunt....

I left just over 2 years ago. They eliminated my position and lied that I would keep my pay rate. I didn’t and was dropped down lower than when I started. Had an interview two days later, now I am so much happier making more money and WFH. Depending on where you are and your skill set, there should be somewhere else. I could have made more money flipping burgers at In and Out burgers than I was making at Sam’s

I left right at 1 year ago. After years of service I had the audacity to use 4 days of STD for a necessary surgery which I scheduled during pre-apprived PTO time. Despite good metrics I could suddenly do nothing to suit our arrogant, egotistical, narcissistic RM and my MM had the backbone of a slug and let him run over me. I found other employment before they could terminate and my life is so much better now. I can't even tell you how little I miss the politics and the back stabbing middle management of this despicable company.

BTW: They are currently on their third replacement for me in just one year so I feel complete vindication as well as total relief.

Life is too short people! Get out while the getting is good!

Can I ask what you're doing now? I'm a fresh lead and it's so hard to consider leaving because the money feels so good even though it is stressful.

I thought about it several times, and get nervous... One day it will happen! Thank you for the encouragement!

Good for you! Always a little scary making a change. I did the same and so happy I did! Sam's and Walmart have not been decent places to work for a little over 12 years! I pity those that don't feel they can do better!
