HPE certainly lays off a lot of people and frequently. A long time ago, with Bill and Dave, hp was famously known for not laying off people. Now it’s completely the opposite. HPE is known for almost continuously laying people off. Layoffs started with Carly back in the late 90s and just kept going.
I think that layoffs are a sign of poor leadership, poor management decisions.

It may be that there is no fixing HPe (Or HPi) for that matter and layoffs and cost cutting is all you can do while you try to figure out a long term plan.
Re-merging with HPi - now that's interesting but even together I think it's over. Bits and pieces will live on but with other companies. I think these cuts are a preparation for a sell off to someone (even in pieces.)
Had an exit interview with my manager last week before I left. He said with Antonio’s restructuring plans, layoffs have just begun and there will be multiple rounds of it. He told me money for new programs have basically been axed. “Every new program you thought was going to grow in fruition are now being cancelled.” Yikes...
Our sister company HP Inc. (according to many friends I have there) thinks the company will either going to get bought out or remerge with HP Inc. and become a single HP once again.
Funny how in one Q&A session during an all hands meeting a few months ago, they said they’re dishing out dividends instead of using that money to preserve cash because they want to keep investors interested in the company. Like, what? Our stock price below $10 can tell you just how interested they are. What exactly are the investors even looking forward to from HPE? We refuse to compete against anyone.
HPE is going not going to recover well...
We have skills with layoffs.
