For anyone hit in the latest round of WFR, was there anything to indicate if the layoff is officially a result of COVID-19? My understanding is that there are certain benefits (in the US) that apply only if the layoff is classified as a result of the pandemic - such as additional unemployment, no early withdrawal penalty on 401k up to a certain amount, etc.

Who the hack is HPE, anyway, to decide if it’s Covid-19 related. You claim it’s Covid related in your state UI agency and collect benefits based on it. I doubt HPE will challenge it.
Well, based on the WFR FAQ doc.... NO it isn't. Q- is my employment being terminated because of COVID-19? A- We continue to optimize our business with the previously announced restructuring. We have not announced any measures related to COVID-19 impact.
(Maybe it is just the coincidental timing that makes it LOOK like it's COVID-19 related. You know, right around the same time as the announced pay cuts, unpaid days off, and 401k match suspensions that WERE COVID-19 related. It's very confusing - which of these cost saving measures were connected to COVID-19 - that created "significant global economic disruption" and "global financial crisis")
Off course it’s related to Covid 19. It’s a late reaction to Covid 19 economic depression. Very clear!!
Actually if you are an active employee you have access to the information. Log into the HPE Employee Insider homepage. In the top right corner (Intranet search box) start typing Workforce - you will see a suggestion pop up for U.S. Workforce Reduction Program (WFR) - click that link. On that page select the Information & Tools section. You should review the FAQs doc. Within page two of that doc it spells out the details of the severance package as it relates to COVID-19.
