Houston Tx several positive test and store closures exactly 2 weeks after re opening. Never be mistaken if you are working in a retail store you are at a massive risk.

The reason Sm's and GM's are not recommending customers do online upgrades as they were a month ago, the stores were manned by mostly mgmt employees thus they didn't want to help anybody! Now with the SS's back in the stores they delegate everything to them this combined with the empathy training ,that's the excuse now to let anyone who complains enough to go into the store and pay more to do it! Makes no sense, regarding the bathroom use. That's the culture for years ,if your
you're a customer you can do just about anything you want in a corporate store, with no regard for employees safety. Lastly the word " Leadership " is used too liberally, most GM regard the job as a stepping stone to a corporate job( most with no experience doing the job?) Till the store culture changes or everyone gets on the same page ,the stores are not a safe place to work!
Wow it seems like it’s bad times right now at the stores, I’m glad I choose WFH option . Don’t think the 30% increase pay is worth it
I like touching the nasty display phones and then sticking my finger up my nose.
The problem is leadership is all on a different page and if you speak up about it as a rep you are viewed as being negative. in our store we have managers letting customers use the bathroom. Imagine that...first off they have to be escorted through a secure area but think of all the extra germs being spread when we have a pandemic going on. Oh but we are more concerned about surveys then employee safety. Verizon stores are tiny in comparison to Target and Walmart so public restroom usage should be blocked for now.
No social distancing, what so ever, reps touching people's phones that are completely helpless and won't listen to our recommendations, tech coach etc, managers not prescreening customers, I heard one GM tell the SM to delegate everything to the SS .dont these people do anything! People waiting in 90 degrees heat outside the store? Mgrs not recommending digital transactions as often, like a month ago, I can write a book on how the corporate stores are unsafe. The best story I heard was a GM asking customer how was the rep today ( survey) She said the rep was great but she had a problem with the GM ! " the problem! " the GM was using his mask as a chin guard, thus the customer said she felt unsafe! The GMs response " I have to wear it for 8 hours,I need to bring it down. The customer was speechless and shocked by this response! The virus will have a 2and wave if this continues in the stores. Cell phones are not a 6 foot distancing business. Store mgmt are not on 1 page and do not help much!
In regards to store safety keep in mind that Verizon is not forcing employees to come back to work. Try to WFH or quit. Verizon has offered VSP’s to some employees with underlying conditions that can’t work from home. Fact.
The new comp plan is garbage and I personally make about 70k a year so losing 15k because Verizon is going with a one team thing doesn’t sit well with me. Forget about the 100k reps there are plenty of hard working reps that are about to lose 10-15k a year and that’s nothing to snooze at. Although I was not on the call it Is true about the director using the team analogy and the Patriots Super Bowl wins as an example. Priceless.
60k is a generous assumption
Go talk on a thread about comp we are talking about workplace safety. That's why the other 80% of Verizon doesn't give a f— about you not making 100k anymore. We are worried about getting Covid and bringing it home to our families and you are b–ching you can't get twice as much money as we do working the same hours. You wanna know what promotes lazyness? Paying the most to the person who sits it the back 90% watching the camera to come push thier way to the front when they see a family walking up. Sorry you are gonna make what the rest of us have been making this whole time. If you don't wanna work hard for 60k quit I'm sure there is some who does.
They know who is on these calls , so they will prob find out who said that or die trying , but i love this calling out of a director, the brady analogy is great ...this comp plan will encourage laziness . The team incentive isnt large enough to bust our @$$
@bar+5. Wow some great points. I was on a directors call and another solutions specialist made some valid points . Director said “ Listen even if we weren’t going to team commissions how were we going to come up with an individual quota in the current covid situation”? “ The time is right for one team commission.” The SS jumped in and said but then how are you going to come up with a quota for team commission in the current situation ? The director then changed the subject. He started talking about how One Team was going to be exciting and actually compared it to the Patriots winning Super Bowls. He said look at what a team can accomplish when they all come together do their part and help each other out. The same SS spoke up again and said yeah but I’m pretty sure the top performers on the team ( Brady etc) make a lot more money then the others. Dead silence on the call.
Yup. Retail is a germ pit. I won't go into a store until this thing is over. Amazon all the way.
I work in a retail store and for the most part I feel safe. I think wearing a mask will continue through the rest of the year if not beyond. With that said working in retail still increases the risk and the 30% increase in pay should continue while having to wear masks. Not trusting the company anymore and having lost most respect for leadership I guarantee they will take away the 30% on August 1st when the new pay changes are made. Leadership baited us into a false sense of security when they talked about how grateful we should be the company paid us during the pandemic. All the kool aid drinking reps and managers would get on calls thanking directors. Now they roll out the new commission changes and the directors talk about how Verizon unlike ATT is not laying anyone off and everyone should be thankful they have jobs. Another bait and switch because everyone knows the Verizon layoffs are coming .
