Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Temporary Layoff

Our "temporary" 90-day layoff is coming to an end in two weeks. The only communication from the home office was the memo about PC's forced retirement. I'm wondering when/if they are going to communicate with us to let us know our status. The $ 600 stimulus bonus has given my take-home pay a raise from my typical Follett paycheck but that's coming to an end in July. Target is raising their minimum wage to $ 15 an hour. I might look good in a red polo shirt and khaki slacks.

Layoffs and more layoffs to come later on. No one should be feeling all "warm and fuzzy" about their position.

And there it is, the iron boot to the butt!

Thanks for knocking yourself out for us. Bye Bye!

I received my letter yesterday. It said they are extending my 90-day layoff to an additional 90 days. Unlike the first 90, Follett will NOT be paying the COBRA health insurance. In the very last paragraph it says that if employee is not called back with this 90-day period the layoff is considered permanent.

Ivory tower here. I was told yesterday I would start the second week of July but with reduced salary. Been interviewing, but pickings are slim.

A Follett letter is coming out later this week to many of the furloughed employees at the corporate office that the 90-day layoff will be extended by another 90 days. We're talking Oct 1st.

layoffs, never saw a 90 plan for that. 90 days was for the pay reduction of salaried employees that continued to work their a– off when the stores closed while everyone else collected an extra 600 a week. When stores reopen jobs will come back. Let's hope the pay reduction ends on time, it is hard making ends meet and really discouraging when the pt cashier is bringing home more sitting at home than the manager doing the work of 4.

If you had Sears or Kmart in your past work experience you are still employed at Follett. That's the golden ticket to being in "the club".

Most of the temporary layoffs should expect to become permanent. If we made it through the last three months without you, we’ll make it through the next three.

Hope you spent your time looking for other jobs.

He is in charge of operations and analytics at the home office, one of the "Kmart/Sears" people that are always being talked about. The original poster might be someone that worked under him, but it sounds like he doesn't treat "Each and every associate" very well.

Who is John Hoffman? Is that a union guy?

Because we’re all very transparent about our identities here...? Not a good market for if they are being a troublemaker or not.

For the people complaining about the negative responses, if this person was sincere they wouldn’t have faked their identity as “John Hoffman”

Not sure if they thought they were being funny or just trying to start trouble. If that’s how they want to act, go ahead and leave.

So, someone has been left in limbo by a company that, basically, threw him & everyone else under the bus at the first opportunity & you're all slating him?? (In reply to all the "bye" people)

Way to go....this is why we can't have nice things!

Employee put on "temporary" lay off wants to know if anyone is going to communicate with them on the status of their employment? And the majority response is bye...? Sad.

@OP+15wut16v I do my best to communicate with my employees about what is going on, but it can sometimes be challenging to know what to say when we're often kept in the dark as well, just like you. And given the snarky response you received to your inquiry? I don't blame you for wanting to seek out other employment. I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do.
