Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

A Bit Of Truth Please

I know all this survival of the business after Covid 19 is uncharted territory for any business. And I do appreciate what has been done for us. But what is hard to take is all the mystery. I know someone hire up watches this website. And while your explanations on many things are appreciated I think what everyone is really needing is some absolute truth. What people are for sure coming back. Who can expect their furlough to turn into a permanent layoff. Are more stores going to close. A lot of us have been with bbb for a very long time and I think that in this time of uncertainty some truth is really what we need. Even if it’s hard to hear. So please...if you are watching this site and can you give it to us as straight as possible??? A lot of us have lives to put back together again and need to know where we stand if possible.

Well, I just got a BB&B coupon in the mail today so we must be getting closer to normal. However, sad to read the call centers are being closed and outsourced later this summer. From the bit I read it looks like our old technology caught up with us in that new company (no location is mentioned) is better suited due to newer equipment and technology. Just bad timing for those affected. Not the kind of news we want to hear.

By the way, are we suppose to get an update email or call today? Looking over my notes it said we would hear more news on June 19th. Has anyone heard anything yet?

Nope...I don’t make $50 an hour....not even close...was just saying that if there’s info they could pass on good or bad...it would be nice to know. Wasn’t trying to be sarcastic, fault a business for trying to make money, or elicit any type of negative response from anyone. Just trying, as many of you are, to plan for what’s next.

Good God, I don't get all of the worry. Are some of you making $50+ an hour or something working at BBBY? This is a retail job... It's not at all that serious. Sure, it's a chore to seek new employment but really? We're that worried about not coming back from furlough? There are a lot of organizations hiring right now. Indeed.com is a good source for job leads and openings.

I wouldn’t rely on BBB to determine your life path. If you haven’t been looking or preparing this whole time, consider it a lesson. This Corp. doesn’t owe anybody anything- working or furloughed. They are in business for the shareholders not for the associates they employ. Best time to look is now since you “could” be called back and have nothing to lose OR your furlough becomes permanent and you now have an option.

How can someone know what the future holds? They do not know. There is no textbook for a pandemic. And I doubt anyone in corporate reads this board
