Forcing employees to record vacation, but not really giving them the time off is illegal.
The majority of employees have been working home for almost 4 months now. Returning to the office for most staff won’t happen until the fall. I think they did not want to be faced with a situation where employees have 4 to 6 weeks of vacation to utilize between September and December. With all the VWO departures, and vacation crammed into the last four months of the year would leave very Little time for productive work by the remaining staff.
Not the same at all. You are not being forced to give up vacation days – the exact opposite, you are being 'forced' to take all your vacation time and not carry it over. You always could only carry over maximum 80 vacation hours into the next year. If you don't use it you will lose it. Very different situation.
Teachers don’t get to chose their vacation time. Nor do employees where there is a crew/floor-wide shutdown.
Yeah not the same situation as the story at all.
Hmmm I wonder if they implemented the mandatory vacation days to try to defend against this type of legal issue. That would make a lot of sense actually. They certainly didn’t do it for our mental health as stated.
Must enter all vacation for the year, no carry over allowed.
It’s the same. I was told to get all vacation recorded, regardless of when I was taking it, even ignore whether everyone in the department was taking Christmas off.
