Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Serious question for the heavy hitters

Do you really think you are going to be able to do this job going forward making 30-50% less in pay? I mean basically the expectations are still going to be there. I think VSP’s should have been offered .

The WFH telesales job will be going through restructuring just like retail. In the pre- covid climate telesales reps rarely made over 3k checks. The fact of the matter is you may be able to make a little bit of extra money doing telesales but weigh in all options before jumping the retail store ship. My friend works in telesales and averages 1k- 1.5k per month but works some c-appy hours. This month it’s all 11-8 shifts Tuesday through Saturday. Most DM’s and SM’s have been instructed to bait heavy hitters into going after telesales roles. The motive here is to reduce the full time 40 hour headcount and save salary dollars in the retail stores. Of course they also don’t want stores peppered with reps who work with the attitude they made so much more under the old plan. In my store we have 7 reps. Last year 1 made 90k, 1 made 80k, 2 made 70k , 1 -60k and the other 2 made in the 50’s. As you can imagine 3 of the 7 reps are ok of the change the other 4 are traumatized. Verizon IMO has not handled this very well. Most reps should have been offered a VSP like others have mentioned on here. It’s one thing to lose your job but another to take a major salary(commission) reduction expecting the same productivity.

I listed back.. she never said WFH. She said you can apply for a telesales job. There's no way that Verizon will have work from home reps and every state of the nation. During the virus the states laxed their requirements. California for example is very strict for work at home. some states require an inspector to approve the workspace the employee is working in. Some states have a massive amount of liability on the employer when an employee is at home working. that's why in the past only a few States ever offered work-from-home opportunities for Verizon and most other major companies. I think we all can agree they have not been very clear when all the information they're giving us. I personally have submitted the question asking about telesales opportunity nationwide at home. Still no clarification

We have been told it would NOT be in all states. Where/When/Who said it would be all 50 states for telesales

Moving to telesales will not be an option for everyone. WFH as a permanent position will only be available in some states. This is due too local labor laws and liability to the company

Yes it should be offered! The same severance as 2 years ago! 3 weeks pay for every year worked and 1 year of benefits. I know many with 15+ years would jump if this was offered.
