AM said today that enough of us applied for one of the VWO programs that company wide layoffs will be avoided.
As someone who is not in a position to apply for VWO, I want to thank all who did.
Your sacrifice is helping me retain my job.

Stop with your head being in the sand. Of course the economy is poor right now, but AM will look for any excuse in the book to continue to cut costs for the shareholder and bring more burden of work to those that remain. It IS a convenient excuse for him to keep doing so.
Agreed – thanks to those who are reducing hours or leaving the company. The rest of us need to stop whinging and get to work to keep the share value so those people (and us eventually) have a pension and positive investments.
As for "using the excuse of difficulties in the market." What planet are you on because I would like to move there, too? No one knows what comes next but don't be surprised if the economy continues to tank – which isn't and 'excuse' but the reality of the situation. It is in all of our best interests that Enbridge remains healthy which may mean a period of contraction before we can grow again.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. The rest of AMs statement left a lot of wiggle room for more cuts to come in the future, using the excuse of difficulties in the market.
