LOL... if IP was so invaluable, they would have been ineligible and unable to apply. Nobody who applied is supposed to be declined for any reason other than not “winning” the lottery. I also do not think those who “lose” the lottery are in any way immune to future layoffs - all it means is that your number wasn’t drawn by chance. Or at least that is what the official documentation suggests ...
I’m sorry for those employees whose application was denied. I had a tough time deciding whether to apply or not and in the end I decided not to apply. With all the time and energy invested in making this important decision, I can’t imagine applying and then being denied. Hopefully there is some assurance that If there are involuntary layoffs at some point, you would also be exempt from that.
Anyone who applied from Infrastructure Planning was denied. Nothing sinister in the intention. Simply put, the group is too valuable, too talented and in possession of too much liquids system knowledge to allow even one person to leave. The Enbridge talent pool would have been decimated in such a case

That has to be the worst feeling. Apply and get declined. On a call late last week a VP had said that some areas were way over prescribed. More people than the dept could safely let go
