Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

BPX Layoffs

Does anyone know whether this morning's announcement gives a hint of how many from BPX would be laid off?

Yes Lawler is going to be chair of BP America, but which units under his BPX are getting cut?

The real question is if the mothership sees value in the business unit, like him or not Lawler did all in his power to make BPX profitable. Will they allow him to continue this through BP America is the real question. Keep in mind BP has plenty of plays around the globe that still operate at lower costs then BPX and they will look at that. I would expect further divestments to take place and around 15-25% cut (with whatever is left from all the other rounds that have taken place.

It does look like BPX is going to divest several assets including their stake in the Eagleford shale

500-600 office based employees so 125-150 will be let go. That’s around 25%

Lawler becomes head of US and layoffs follow. What most will fail to recognize is that the initial announcement for the US is only the beginning. Similar to what has transpired in bpx, unofficial layoffs will continue in the background until he is toppled while he replaces BP legacy employees with a new harem.

You can expect 25% cut overall in BPX. Same as mothership.
