Norton discriminates and is short sighted. Her policies blow in the wind until the next incomplete idea catches her attention. A classic case of a leader out taking a walk by themselves not followed by their people, but by wolves. Wells is better off with her departure as the reputation hasn’t been restored and the quality of risk management did not exceed expectations. I feel sorry for those who had to endure her ‘leadership’ for your could have done far better. Yet now you can move on to the future, one where leadership and steady direction in a changing world is possible.
See quality risk management is built in principles that addresses risks, company goals and stakeholder needs. Her approach hit parts of all, yet failed in completeness. Wells you may get to live that again, but if her replacement comes from her leadership tree then it may take longer, unless a break from her style and thinking are abandoned. Good luck Wells, us stakeholders are rooting for your true return to risk management greatness and not the facade of the past few years.

She was really brusque and condescending to the gentleman who spoke up during the Risk All Hands Call who asked about the Risk Hub Strategy. He stated he was from the San Francisco office and asked her and the operating committee to reconsider making San Francisco a hub. He noted there would be no career path for him or a hub west of the Mississippi. There was no empathy from her, and it was clear she didn’t want to hear it. She shut him down and emphatically declared it was a financial decision. I use to think highly of her, but now I see she has a real ruthless side. She doesn’t care about her people as long as she is lining her pockets. She clearly lacks the courage to push back on Charlie. She is just another yes executive whose self interest comes first.
